Founded by former professional dancer Leah Castello, her vision is to offer a fun and motivating community for adults to exercise their passion for dance. Cierra is teaching Contemporary at 7:30P, a class for beginner level dancers 💜 she is a former 2X NBA dancer for the Washington Wizards’ Dancers and in 2014 won the title of Miss New Jersey, which led to her competing at Miss America!

Avonie is teaching Hip Hop at 8:30P 💜 She is a 2x NFL dancer with the Washington Commanders’ Command Force Dance Team. Prior to her NFL career, she performed alongside artists including Doechii, Jennie of BLACKPINK, Lil’ Kim, DaBaby, and more.

WELCOME TO THE AVA ERAS TOUR 💜✨

Before the sold out classes, hundreds of dancers, countless friendships, and memorable performances… there was The Beginning Era. 🥹

📼 2016–2019: THE BEGINNING ERA

Leah Alexis Mariner started AVA with a simple idea: create a safe space where adults could dance, have fun, make friends, and share their passion.

I was figuring it all out as I went. I would be ecstatic if 5 people came to class. We would sign in on a piece of paper and I’d take cash at the door. I had no idea what AVA would become. I stayed consistent, I never considered failure or stopping as an option. I was determined to keep dancing, to build this community, and share my passion of dance with others. ✨

This era may have been the beginning, but it laid the foundation for everything AVA would become.

To every dancer, instructor, supporter, and friend who was part of these early years: thank you for believing in AVA and in me, it means more than you know! 💜

It’s been so fun reliving these memories from the very beginning. Join us in celebrating this special milestone on October 7th at our 10th Anniversary Gala! Whether you’ve danced with us for 1 week or 10 years - we’d love to see you there!

Former NBA dancers Marielle | NYC/DC Creator & audreym.24 are teaching on Tuesday, Sept. 22! 🏀 We’re excited to welcome Marielle back as she was one of AVA’s original guest instructors & choreographed our first-ever NBA appearance!

Marielle is teaching Hip Hop at 7:30P 💜 She studied at UNCG where she earned a BA in Dance Education (K-12) and was a member of the Spartan G’s Dance Team for five years, serving as a captain for three years. Dance has taken Marielle to different places such as Atlanta, Las Vegas, Italy, and China. She coached the Washington Mystics’s dance team, Mystics Mayhem, for two seasons and danced for the Washington Wizards for four seasons

Audrey is teaching Street Jazz at 8:30P 💜 She is a former 1X NBA dancer for the Washington Wizards and prior to going pro, got her dancing start in DC here at AVA!

We’re performing at HALFTIME during the Washington Wizards’ game on November 4 and YOU could be on the court with us! 🏀

This performance is a full production because we’re bringing TWO groups of dancers to Capital One Arena with us! Dancers can choose to participate in either the Street Jazz or Hip Hop group. Each will have their own rehearsals, but will unite on the court for one iconic routine!

The registration cost for this performance opportunity is $265. This does not include costumes or game tickets.
