I always feel like it’s been a good strategy when my times get better every run. This was the final qualifier on day 2 and we ripped our fastest time of the weekend, and one of only 2 boats to bring it in under 40 seconds. We ran a 39.846. Unfortunately I got off line in one of the chicanes in the finals and lost time, coming in with a 40.0. I was disappointed in that final run because I know we had at least a 38 in the boat, I just failed to extract it.

Simple hack for dealing with super-messy adhesives.

Made new bushings for the Sprintec sheet metal bucket, a bracket for the actuator and finally glued and screwed the Southern Jet LTD 8.5” race pump in. Tomorrow is rigging.

One problem with going out hard early in the day is you don’t get a chance to identify the challenging spots on the course at a more controllable speed. This was our very first qualifier in the turbo boat and I simply didn’t see the wake sitting in the middle of that turn. Once it started bouncing, I couldn’t stop my gas pedal foot from bouncing either and we ended up sliding across the beach. No damage, just a bruised spirit. Huge thank you to Trevor Warren Lon Ryder and all of the safety crew for doing what they do!

First onboard from the new boat! We had all kinds of pump problems on day 1 and with only 1 set of impellers, we’re kinda screwed but still having fun and still learning. This was our last and fastest run of day 1 and good enough to sneak us into P3. Might have a few tenths to pick up with some small adjustments and smoothing out some turn combinations…we’ll see what we can do.
