Do you know what a good motorcycle wash actually looks like?
Whether your bike is getting cleaned at a charity bike wash, dealership event, by a detailer, or in your own driveway, a few simple mistakes can scratch paint, damage finishes, or put water where it doesn't belong.

🏍️ Let the bike cool down first.
Hot surfaces can cause cleaners and water to dry too quickly, leaving spots and making products harder to rinse properly.
Why it matters: A cool bike gives you more control and lets cleaning products work as intended.

🏍️ Separate your clean and dirty towels.
Wheels and lower surfaces collect brake dust, sand, and road debris. Use that same towel on your tank or painted panels, and you could drag abrasive particles across the finish.
Why it matters: The towel may look clean enough. Your paint may disagree.

🏍️ If a towel hits the ground, it's done. 😂
Concrete and asphalt grit can become embedded in microfiber.

Dry hidden areas and inspect the bike as you go. After washing, follow manufacturer recommendations for chain care or other maintenance your motorcycle may need.

Why it matters: Washing is also a chance to spot loose hardware, leaks, tire damage, and other small problems before they become expensive ones.

So, should you go to the bikini bike wash?
Sure. Have fun. Support the event. Tip well! 😂

Just remember: good wash technique matters whether the person holding the hose is wearing a bikini, a dealership uniform, or your old Arlington Motorsports T-shirt.
