💚✨ COACH SPOTLIGHT: COACH VERNELL ✨💚Meet Coach Vernell!
Coach Vernell’s fitness journey began through sports, but over the years it has become so much more than competition. Today, he’s passionate about helping others move better, get stronger, and build confidence through fitness.
From competing in HYROX to coaching middle school athletes, Vernell believes growth never stops. For him, fitness isn’t just about looking better (although that’s a great bonus 😉)—it’s about becoming healthier, more resilient, and setting an example for his family, students, and community.💬 Why he coaches:
“I believe everyone has more potential than they realize.”
Coach Vernell’s philosophy is built on the idea that fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every person has different goals, different strengths, and a unique starting point. His mission is to educate, encourage, motivate, and challenge every member to become the strongest version of themselves.
He believes that when we consistently challenge ourselves, our bodies adapt, our confidence grows, and our mindset changes. Favorite movement: Sled Pushes & Sled Pulls 🔥
These movements test strength, endurance, and mental toughness all at once—just the kind of challenge Coach Vernell loves!
💚 Favorite ISI memory: Watching members accomplish something they never thought they could—whether it’s their first burpee, first box jump, or another personal milestone—and seeing the entire room celebrate right alongside them.
📚 Fun Fact: By day, Coach Vernell is a middle school special education teacher and coaches girls volleyball, basketball, and track. He’s also currently earning his master’s degree in Strength and Human Performance! 💪🎓

Meet Coach Jasmine!
Coach Jasmine’s fitness journey began with a simple goal—to become healthier and stronger, both physically and mentally. Over time, fitness became so much more than exercise. It became a lifestyle built on discipline, consistency, and confidence.
Like many of us, she’s experienced seasons where staying consistent wasn’t easy. Those experiences have shaped the compassionate coach she is today, allowing her to connect with members and support them through every stage of their own fitness journey.

“I love helping people realize they’re capable of more than they think. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone accomplish something they once believed they couldn’t.”
Her coaching philosophy is simple:

Meet Coach Jona!
Coach Jona has been passionate about fitness since his days as a youth athlete. After college, he realized it was difficult to find a community of people who valued health and fitness as much as he did. That realization led him to pursue coaching—and he’s never looked back.
From Camp Gladiator to nutrition coaching, personal training, run coaching, and now serving as the Head Performance Coach at ISI Arlington, Jona has found exactly where he belongs: helping others become the best version of themselves.
💬 Why he coaches:
“Encouraging others to be their best, live their best life, and stay functional is my calling.”
His coaching philosophy is simple:
Lead from the front and practice what you preach. 💚
Coach Jona believes great leaders set the example. By showing up consistently, living the lifestyle, and putting in the work himself, he inspires others to do the same.
🏋️ Favorite movement: Pull-Ups 💪
Pull-ups weren’t always his favorite. In fact, there was a time he couldn’t do a single one. Instead of avoiding them, he embraced the challenge and turned a weakness into one of his greatest strengths—a reminder that growth happens when we face what challenges us.
💚 Favorite ISI memory: Taking his very first ISI workout... and immediately signing up for another one right after! Since then, one of his proudest moments has been leading the Black Team through Iron 28 and watching members push each other to be their very best.
🌱 Fun Fact: Coach Jona and his siblings were raised vegetarian!

Coach Abi’s fitness journey began in 2019, four years after the birth of her son. What started as a commitment to prioritize her health soon turned into a passion for challenging herself. From Camp Gladiator to running, CrossFit, and now HYROX, every step has made her stronger—both physically and mentally—and reinforced the power of consistency.

“I love inspiring others and sharing the passion that fitness has given me. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching someone gain confidence, get stronger, and realize they’re capable of more than they ever imagined.”
Her coaching philosophy is one we can all live by:
Any movement is movement, and every step forward deserves to be celebrated. 💚
Coach Abi believes fitness is for everyone, no matter your age, experience, or starting point. Her goal is to create an environment where every member feels welcomed, supported, challenged, and excited to keep showing up for themselves.

Whether she’s training for a race or heading out for a peaceful run with no destination in mind, running is where she finds freedom, clarity, and joy.

🎶 Fun Fact: Coach Abi is a huge music lover and concert enthusiast! You’ll often find her discovering new artists or singing along to her favorite bands.

Meet Coach Fernando!
Coach Fernando has been passionate about sports and staying active from a young age. What started as a commitment to maintaining his health quickly grew into a passion for fitness and helping others. Today, he specializes in strength & conditioning and functional training, empowering people to move better, get stronger, and build healthy habits that last a lifetime.
💬 Why he coaches:
“I want people to understand that fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all. Everyone is capable of moving their body and improving their health. My goal is to help each person find what works best for them while encouraging them to reach their highest potential.”
One of Coach Fernando’s favorite reminders:
“Control the weight, don’t let it control you.” 💚
It’s more than a coaching cue—it’s a mindset. Whether in the gym or in life, we may not control every challenge, but we can always control how we respond.

Meet Coach Carl!
Coach Carl’s fitness journey began over six years ago after recovering from COVID. He realized he wanted to be healthier and stronger—not just for himself, but for his grandkids. That decision sparked a life-changing journey that eventually led him to coaching.

“After about a year into my own journey, I felt called to help others. There’s no better feeling than seeing that moment when the light bulb goes off and a member realizes what they’re capable of.”
🏋️ Favorite exercise: “None of them.” 😂 (He’s proof that you don’t have to love every exercise to love the results!)
💚 Favorite ISI memory: Becoming a coach and having the opportunity to impact lives every day.

Meet Coach Danielle!
Coach Danielle’s fitness journey began in high school through sports. At just 15 years old, she started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and it wasn’t long before she discovered her passion for weightlifting. Today, fitness is more than a hobby—it’s a way of life.

“Fitness changed my life, and I love helping others build confidence through it. My goal is to help every member realize they’re capable of more than they think.”

Meet Coach Carmela!
Fitness has been part of Carmela’s life since she was a kid. Growing up as an athlete sparked her passion for movement, which led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. After joining ISI Arlington as a member, she stepped outside her comfort zone and became one of our incredible coaches—a journey that perfectly represents what our community is all about.
💬 Why she coaches:
“I believe fitness is empowering. Everyone has the ability to become the strongest version of themselves through consistency, healthy habits, and the right support. When you feel good, you look good—and vice versa!”
🏋️ Favorite exercise: Barbell Hip Thrusts
💚 Favorite ISI memory: Becoming a coach after first joining as a member and having the opportunity to help others achieve their goals every day.
🌺 Fun Fact: Before becoming a coach, Carmela was a professional hula dancer! She started dancing when she was just 5 years old.
