Monday, August 10, 2026 marks a new chapter for BDR The Lab Athletics. This chapter brings me back home with a new perspective. It has not been an easy decision.
When I started BDR in 2013, the goal was to build something rooted in connection, where people felt seen, understood, and supported as whole human beings, not just clients in a class. I wanted to understand more than goals and metrics. I wanted to understand their lives, their stressors, their seasons, and what they truly needed to take care of themselves well.
I never set out to be a business owner. My clients have never been just clients to me. They become family. I take seriously the responsibility of educating, coaching, and caring for every person who trusts me with their health and goals. I want people to understand their bodies, understand the why behind what we do, and leave stronger, more confident, and better equipped to take care of themselves.
In 2020, the world and my life were coming unraveled. I felt like I needed to grow. I craved change. I made the decision to sell my home and move the gym into a warehouse downtown. Around that same time, I began working more with high school and college athletes and teams. BDR grew, and so did I.
Working with athletes expanded my understanding of performance, recovery, movement quality, and training with intention. It challenged me, refined my coaching, and deepened my respect for the complexity of the human body. I am grateful for that experience, and I hope I never stop learning.
Over the years, I have come to understand something even deeper: real change is rarely loud or fast. It happens quietly through repetition, patience, and consistency. The mundane work, the showing up, the basics, and the unglamorous days are where lasting strength is developed.
A short term transformation can create visible change, and there is value in that momentum. But true strength, physical, mental, and emotional, is not a short term outcome. It is built through a lasting relationship with your body, your habits, and yourself.
What you see on the outside is only a reflection of what has been built underneath. The foundation is what sustains it.
BDR has always been about the complete athlete, longevity, virtuosity, and most of all, community. Somewhere along the way, I realized I was missing the personal connection with my clients. I gained clarity about what matters most in my own life. I missed being home with my kids. I missed the rhythm of being present where my heart is.
So I am bringing BDR home again.
Thank you to everyone who has supported BDR over the last 13 years. I am grateful for every person who has been part of this story, and I am excited for what comes next.
I cannot wait to welcome you home.
