After 47 years teaching in MD, the past 31 years at L'Ecole, Miss Barbara is retiring her ballet shoes. Come and celebrate during her last student recital on June 6th 1pm at Anne Arundel Community College theater. Tickets can be bought at the door or by reaching out to Miss Barbara personally. Her current students are collecting money for a bouquet, gift card, and a framed keepsake of a hand drawn ballerina with warm words from all her students. Hello dance community! Coming to L'Ecole later this month, a creative workshop of self and identity in motherhood, lead by Barbara's daughter, Kristi! This is a 2 hour workshop, incorporating values, creativity, and community. Moms with kids of any age or stage are welcome!

2023 LāEcole de Danse Spring Performance
On Saturday, June 3, at 1:15 PM students of LāEcole de Danse will present their annual dance performance at the Anne Arundel Community College Pascal Center Theater.
The performance features the ballet āRagtime,ā choreographed by Barbara Winner with music by composer, Scott Joplin, and Lyrical pieces choreographed by Julia Donaldson.
Opening the program are Miss Donaldsonās Lyrical pieces, āA Song of Storm and Fireā and āVenusā choreographed for students ages 8 ā 15.
āRagtimeā begins with a Family Picnic in which Creative Movement students (ages 4 ā 6) and Beginning Ballet students (ages 7 ā 8) dance and play at an old-time amusement park with their Aunt Julia. Schoolgirls (ages 8 ā 12) join in the fun, as do Sluggers (ages 11 ā 13), Newsgirls and a Newsboy (ages 12 ā 15). Soloists (ages 14 ā 16), including an Ice Cream Vendor, a Librarian, and a Balloon Seller are featured throughout the ballet.
The performance is open to the public. Tickets are $10 each for reserved seating. For more information about this performance, call Barbara Winner at 443-867-2464.

Congratulations to Grace Feldmann on her acceptance into the 2023 Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive in New York City. Grace is a 15-year-old Advanced Ballet and Lyrical student at LāEcole de Danse. She began her classical ballet study with LāEcole de Danse at the age of eight in the Beginning Ballet II/III Class with Barbara Winner.

Congratulations to Schuyler Ward on her acceptance into the 2023 Alonzo King Lines Ballet Summer Intensive in San Francisco. Schuyler is a 14-year-old Advanced Ballet and Lyrical student at LāEcole de Danse. She began her classical ballet study at LāEcole at the age of seven in the Beginning Ballet Class with Barbara Winner.

Anne Arundel County and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County awarded Barbara Winner, Director of LāEcole de Danse, a $2500 ARPA Local Independent Artists Support Program Independent Artist Grant for 2023. This award will help fund the LāEcole de Danse Spring Performance of āRagtimeā at Anne Arundel Community College on June 3, 2023, and support the 2023 Summer Arts Program.
