Severn Sailing Association is a member-run sailing and racing club. We feature a full season of racing plus a winter frostbiting series.
Located in Annapolis, Maryland, SSA has a half-century tradition of high-quality one-design racing. We regularly host major regional, national and international championship events. We operate an extensive Junior Program, featuring an 8-week summer program as well as spring and fall high school team sailing. SSA’s Ashley Love and Kim Couranz are joining skipper Lijia “Lily” Xu and Michael Anne Ashford and Gretchen Esbensen in Team Magenta Project for this year’s Santa Maria Cup. Lily is an Olympic gold and bronze medalist in the Laser Radial (now ILCA 6) currently looking to move into match racing. Eastport Yacht Club’s Santa Maria Cup is the second stop on the 2026 edition of the Women’s World Match Racing Tour.

Introducing FLEET SWAP FRIDAYS - a tri-club event series leading up to summer where anyone (yes, even non-members) can register to try sailing on any of the boats signed up for the swap!
This Friday we're hosting FSF at SSA with Eastport Yacht Club and you can try out the J/70, J/80, J/22, M15, Snipe, and possibly more!
Next week we're heading to West River Sailing Club to try out some of their dinghies... what would you like to see there??
