"What's your fastest 3-cut combo?" This trio of cuts allows you to shape the battlefield and carve your way in against your duifang.

🫖⚔️ THIS SATURDAY: IN THE TEAHOUSE WITH RODELL LAOSHI

This Saturday, 19 September, Rodell Laoshi will be joining us live for the first In The Teahouse session at the Chinese Sword Academy.

It’s a chance to sit down with someone who has spent decades studying, teaching and testing Chinese swordsmanship, and get into the sort of questions that rarely fit into a normal class or short video.

And there’s still time to get your name into the draw for this. 👇

⚔️ WIN A WINTER PLUM JIAN

We’re giving away a Seven Stars Swords Winter Plum Jian (傲雪寒梅劍), a hand-forged Chinese straight sword with stainless steel scabbard.

Seven Stars Swords was created to address a problem Chinese sword practitioners have faced for years: finding swords that are actually made for serious training and cutting, rather than decorative blades being sold as functional weapons.

Rodell Laoshi is a partner in Seven Stars, working directly with traditional forges in China and bringing decades of test-cutting experience into the design and production of the swords.

The draw is open to members of the Chinese Sword Academy community who reach Level 2, and there is still time to join and qualify before the live.

No purchase is required to enter. If you’re already in the Academy but have mostly been lurking, this might be a good week to introduce yourself. 😉

We’ll put the link to join the Academy and a link where you can take a closer look at the Winter Plum Jian in the comments below.

See you in the Teahouse on Saturday. 🫖⚔️

There are many unique and distinctive designs in the realm of Chinese swords, but these human-headed pommels from the Qing dynasty are especially rare, and not many of them seem to have survived to the modern day.

Rising cuts are heavily underutilized in free swordplay, but they are incredibly versatile both when they land, and when you are closing distance against your duifang.
