She is drinking 8 glasses of water a day and she is still dehydrated.
Her skin is dry. Her joints are stiff. Her fascia is rigid. She has brain fog by mid-afternoon. She gets headaches she never used to get. Her digestion is sluggish.
She tells you she drinks plenty of water. And she does. But here is what nobody told her:
Volume is not the same as absorption.
During the menopause transition, declining estrogen reduces hyaluronic acid, the molecule that holds water in tissue. It reduces collagen that gives structure to cells. And it disrupts the hypothalamus signals that regulate thirst. Her body is literally losing its ability to hold onto water at the cellular level.
So she drinks her 8 glasses and most of it passes straight through. Her cells never absorb it. She is hydrated on paper and dehydrated in reality.
The fix is remarkably simple: add a pinch of mineral salt to her water.
Not table salt. Mineral salt... Celtic, or Himalayan. The trace minerals (sodium, potassium, magnesium) create the electrolyte balance that allows water to actually enter the cell and stay there.
Water without minerals is like pouring water through a colander. Water WITH minerals is like pouring it into a bowl. Same water. Completely different result.
This is one of the cheapest, simplest, and most immediate interventions a root-cause practitioner can teach. A pinch of salt. A glass of water. And a woman who finally stops feeling dried out from the inside.
That is what it means to understand hydration at the cellular level.
