Designed for athletes in 6th–11th grade, Ember focuses on continued skill development, team play, and real game experience. Athletes will train with their assigned teams throughout the program and finish with an Ember Tournament on October 17th! 🏆

✨COACH SPOTLIGHT | Meet Coach Mona Jones!✨

Say hello to Coach Mona! 🧡🏐

Coach Mona is entering her fifth year of coaching volleyball and her second season with Frontier Volleyball Academy. She brings enthusiasm, resilience, and a passion for helping athletes grow into confident competitors and even better teammates.

📍 Hometown:
Anchorage, Alaska

🏐 Favorite volleyball memory:
Competing in Arizona with her 14U team last season! After a difficult first day that ended with tears following a tough stretch of losses, the team came back on bracket day determined to finish strong. They won every match, placed first in their bracket, and those tears of disappointment turned into tears of joy. A reminder that perseverance pays off! 💪🧡

💬 Advice for every athlete:
“After making a mistake, reset your mindset by moving forward and finishing strong. Avoid self-criticism and negative self-talk. Instead, focus on the next opportunity or play.”

🧡 What she hopes every player leaves her team knowing:
That they are confident in their ability to overcome challenges, adapt to any situation, and represent themselves with character both on and off the court.

👩‍🍳 Fun facts:
Coach Mona is the youngest of nine and the first in her family to earn a college degree, an accomplishment she’s incredibly proud of! She has two lifelong best friends she’s known since eighth grade, loves going on adventures with them, and is the proud mom of two daughters, ages 18 and 21. When she’s not in the gym, you’ll find her cooking, baking, or entertaining friends and family. 🍽️🍰

Coach Zay is the Assistant Coach for our 15 Inferno team and is entering her second season with Frontier Volleyball Academy and fourth year of coaching overall. She brings a passion for developing athletes, building meaningful relationships, and reminding players that who they are extends far beyond the game.

🏐 Favorite volleyball memory:
“Definitely the people I’ve met. Volleyball has taken me around the world and given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and create unforgettable memories, many of which had nothing to do with being on the court. It all started because a group of girls decided to play volleyball.”

💬 Advice for every athlete:
“Being a great teammate will always trump being a great athlete. Lead with kindness and always remember to push the person next to you.”

🧡 What she hopes every player leaves her team knowing:
That they are more than the sport they play. Stats, a single game, or one performance should never define who they are as a person.

🎓 Fun facts:
Coach Zay continued her academic and athletic career in Macon, Georgia, where she recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with her bachelor’s degree, an accomplishment she’s incredibly proud of! She also reminds every athlete that you’re a student-athlete, not an athlete-student. Education comes first! 📚

🌍 Favorite hobby:
Traveling! Coach Zay dreams of seeing the entire world, visiting new places, meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and making lifelong memories. She’s already explored many states across the U.S. and has traveled to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. ✈️🌎

Coach Taylee is one of our 16 Blaze Coaches and is entering her second year of coaching volleyball. She brings great energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping athletes grow both on and off the court.

📍 Hometown:
Wasilla, Alaska

🏐 Favorite volleyball memory:
Traveling for club volleyball! Some of Coach Taylee’s favorite memories happened outside of the matches, from hotel stays and team dinners to inside jokes, playing Just Dance, and spending time with teammates. Those moments made the experience truly unforgettable.

💬 Advice for every athlete:
“Jump high and hit hard!” 🎉

Coach Taylee’s first volleyball coach shared this advice with her, and it’s stuck ever since. She believes it applies to every position: play with confidence, give maximum effort, and never be afraid to make mistakes.

🧡 What she hopes every player leaves her team knowing:
That they are capable of more than they think, while feeling confident, supported, and proud of how much they’ve grown, not only as volleyball players, but as people.

🌍 Fun facts:
Coach Taylee loves to travel! During her senior year of high school, she traveled to South Africa on a hunting trip, and shortly after graduating, she went skydiving in Hawaii! 🪂 She also enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and curling up with a good book. 🥾🌊📚
