As The Dome approaches its 20th anniversary, it’s planning ahead with a scheduled replacement of its fabric shell in Summer 2027. Without replacement, the facility will permanently close. The community's support and funding of this project is needed to help keep The Dome open for another 20-25 years. If you've ever laced up for a Raven Run Club session, trained for a goal race through the winter, attended a spring track meet, or found a comfortable space to move when the ice and dark made the outdoors a no-go, you already know what The Dome means to this region. For almost 20 years, The Dome has been the place Southcentral Alaska turns to stay active, together, all year round.
Skinny Raven Sports and Raven Run Club are proud regulars at the facility. And we're just one small part of a much bigger picture. The Dome hosts an average of 1,000 people a day and is home base for 20+ nonprofits, from youth soccer and rugby clubs to Special Olympics Alaska, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska, University of Alaska Anchorage Cross Country and Track & Field, Anchorage School District school athletics, ROTC programs, and even testing for APD, the Alaska State Troopers, and the military. Toddlers, teenagers, Olympic hopefuls, weekend warriors, and everyone in between, The Dome is a critical fixture in our community.
It's time for The Dome to invest in a new shell, and to invest in its next 20-25 years of usability. Without that replacement, the facility closes for good. The Dome has been a genuine partner to SRS, to our run club, and to so many neighbors, teams, and organizations across Southcentral Alaska. We invite you to join us in supporting The Dome, and we look forward to many more years of practices, training, events, meets, and more, with you all. Thank you! And thank you to The Dome!
