Cobra / Upward Facing Dog
Cobra is a heart opener and active. You should never feel like you’re resting (aka collapsing) here. Keep the elbows slightly bent. Draw them in towards your sides. Shoulders away from the ears. More SPACE across the chest.
Burn & Bloom
burn+bloom is a yoga studio and school in Anchorage, Alaska offering a variety of somatic classes and the first red light–integrated studio.
Do yoga at home, they said.
It’ll be so relaxing, they said.

Part 3:
I swear after this one I won’t wear black clothes anymore 😂
Reminder that this is my personal recommendations based on what I see in the yoga community and what I’ve experienced in my own body.
When students come to me and say “but my teacher says this ________” my question is “okay- and how does it feel in your body- let’s break it down.”
Yoga is not one size fits all.
Also- respectfully, I don’t actually care what the black and white photos of men in India doing poses look like. I’m more interested in using my asana practice to support THIS BODY.
Watch part 1 for forward fold and I go into more detail about my thoughts of “right” and “wrong” postures. Every body is different.
It’s more about how it feels in a pose than how it looks.
But also sometimes we can’t just go off feeling (example hyper mobile bodies feeling best in the deepest stretch)
But I’ve been teaching yoga for a long time and I have had some of the common injuries.
And I’ve seen a lot of old school yogis also have these injuries.
So I have drastically changed how I practice for my hyper mobile body. Because I want to keep practicing (and teaching) for the rest of my life!)
Next up: chaturanga & cobra.
New series: common yoga poses you’re probably f*cking up.
Part 1:
Forward f*cking fold
I don’t know how many times I need to say this:
BEND 👏
YOUR 👏
F*CKING👏
KNEES 👏
Next up: plank & chaturanga.

Two years ago, we (AlisaMarie & kylie_roswell ) met on the edge of this lake.
Surrounded by volcanoes, water, fire, movement, and magic…and it was the beginning of something very special!
Now, we’re going back. 🌋🌊🔥
Our first ever official Burn & Bloom retreat at Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.
But it’s more than a retreat.
This is intentional travel rooted in adventure, embodiment, healing, community, and discovery.
A week of movement, sacred ritual, deep connection, and exploring the five elements through the land, the lake, and the body.
You do not have to be a yoga teacher (or even a “yogi” at all) to enjoy this retreat! But we will have daily yoga practices and workshops with a combined 15 hours of YACEP for yoga teachers!
We’ll move, explore, reset and come back to ourselves.
✨ Daily yoga + movement
🌿 Elemental workshops + optional YACEP hours
🌊 Paddleboarding, swimming + nature excursions
🔥 Fire ceremony + temescal
🌬️ Waterfall hikes + integration practices
🤍 Shared meals, shared spaces, real connection
This retreat is for the ones craving more.
More depth.
More presence.
More life.
Spots are intentionally limited and most lodging is shared to encourage connection and community.
We opened registration in May and filled up quickly BUT we spoke to the retreat center and were able to open up a few more spots!!!!!
Come with us.
