Impakt Hockey Development

One of my absolute favorite parts of the Impakt Hockey Development camp is having our junior coaches on the ice alongside Coach Tim & Carson.

Giving these athletes a chance to step into coaching—not only working with younger players here in Alaska, but learning how to lead, communicate, and give back to the game—is something really special. And for our campers, there’s nothing more powerful than seeing firsthand what hard work, discipline, and commitment can turn into.

I’ve known every one of these kids since they were little, and watching them grow into the young adults they are today has been incredible. They now represent the NAHL, BCHL, USHL, NCAA (D1 & D3) collegiate levels—and they carry themselves in a way that sets the standard both on and off the ice.

There’s no question our campers have loved learning from them over the past two weeks. We hope they see what’s possible and use these coaches as role models for what’s ahead in their own journeys.

We wrapped up the week with a special ice time with Coach Tim, and I truly can’t thank our junior coaches enough for being such an important part of ImpAKt.

Week One Complete with Coach Carson! 🙌🏒

What an incredible week watching the kids have so much fun while learning and growing their game. The development—both on and off the ice—has been next level, thanks to the high-level coaching we’ve brought in from Canada & their IHD philosophy of training!🇨🇦

We had such a great group of kids this week, and we can’t wait to see all those smiling faces back after three much-needed days of rest!

Carson and Tim will overlap for the first session Tuesday morning, and it’s going to be awesome to have everyone back together on the ice.

What a great first day with Coach Carson! Between three hours on the ice and an hour of dryland with Coach Jack and Reece, we’re guessing there were some pretty tired kiddos last night.

Day 1 was all about building a strong foundation—focusing on stride development, dialing in the details, and incorporating deception into their movement. The scrimmage gave players a chance to apply those skills in a game setting, and we wrapped up by working through 1-on-1, 2-on-1, and 3-on-2 situations, emphasizing finding lanes and making smart decisions with the puck. It was a great introduction to a faster-paced style of play and the importance of making every minute on the ice count.

We’re excited to welcome everyone back for Day 2 as we continue progressing the skills each player is working on. One of our favorite parts is hearing the kids share their excitement and love for camp with their teammates and friends.

We do still have a few open spots available for the rest of the week, and we’d love to welcome a few more players to join us!

Carson brings a passion for coaching that is truly one-of-a-kind. Having grown up immersed in the hockey world—both as a player and working alongside Tim—Carson discovered early on that his true calling was behind the bench. His commitment to the game and the way he connects with players is something special, and what he brings to the ice is unmatched.

We’ve all come to love Coach Tim, and I’m so excited for our players to experience another exceptional and unique coaching style this week with Carson leading the way!
