Great time yesterday at the first Montgomery County Championship! This tourney showcased what Montgomery County NY has to offer with its two best disc golf courses. AM round at the Burbine Forest DGC and PM round at Dove Creek.

Big thanks to Visit Montgomery County NY , ADK Discs , Bellinger Orchards, Gateway Discs, the Burbine Family, Ken Stuff and the Burbine crew (Sparky/Mike E. Etc.) everyone who chipped in to make this possible.

Lots of great feedback. Looks like the area wants 3 tournaments in this area, Blues, MCC, and another Wing it. That's a lot to ask but we will try to make it happen!

AM and Pro payouts should be going out today!

Good morning everyone, First and foremost thank you to everyone who came out to yesterdays First Montgomery County Championship(recap/results later today), just a reminder with todays weather and Terry probably being a little tired from yesterday we will not have league this week 9/20…. Next week league 9/27 will also be our final league week of the year. Thank you to everyone who has come and support Dove Creek from Shawn,Terry,Chris and Will!!

Reminder to all, there is a tournament taking place tomorrow, one round at Burbine in the AM and one round at Dove Creek starting around 12pm. The course will be closed after 11am, so if you want to play, please make sure you are wrapping up your round before 11am!

Things I believe it does:

*Continues the course theme of fair fairways and rough roughs
*Creates a decision. Do you disc up and go for the birdie or throw something slower and more accurate. Giving a harder birdie chance but a gimme par with a long birdie shot.
*Rollaway potential for stock hyzer approaches
*Makes the course more lefty friendly muahahahahha

Interested to see how the field approaches this. I know how I am gonna, what would you do?

5 of us came and played including a first timer getting his handicap. Relatively new I was impressed with where his game was at. For the last week he has a real shot to cash. I took first with Shawn and Jim taking the final cash.

Afterwords, Shawn Collins and I put in the sleeve for the new par 4 basket position on 4. We need just a bit more concrete and then just to move the basket and it will be in. The change will be made for the tourney next week.

Lots of spots open so please sign up.

Way too early forecast shows rain holding off until after the tourney but even if it does rain a bit we will be able to use our new rain shed umbrellas from the giveaway!

League still on this week. Rain should taper off as we tee off. Great practice for 2026 Montgomery County Championship which is in 1 week. Lots of spots available so join!

Speaking of league, our last week will be Sept 27th and current standings are as follows. Still working through how many folks are getting paid out. Any ace pot money left over will also go to payouts to make that bigger!

Chris is running away with 1st but big battle for 2nd!

Course OG Will Cable shooting aces out there practicing for the 2026 Montgomery County Championship!

Labor Day Work Day. Put in about 3.5 hrs work today. Did a poor job taking pictures.

Tasks accomplished:

1. On 3, moved OB from original layout to a more natural full creek bed layout.

2. On 4, moved the Mando sign for visibility and added the OB stakes to define the cove. Video attached!

3. Used a whole can of wasp spray on some wasps who were directly in root system of tree next to 6 basket. Some stragglers left and we will have to check back. Left the can so people would at least notice in case they foiled the spray.

4. Replaced the OB stakes on 12 that were washed away. Any time it rages those stakes are goners so may have to make OB tighter where they won't get washed away.

5. Took down the roots on 13 at the corner. That hole is hard enough as it is so just another way to make it to the basket. Also cut up a bunch of the downed tree down the hill so at the very least if you kick right you don't have to throw over downed trees. A clean up and that hole will look very nice back there.

Less than 2 weeks now to the 2026 Montgomery County Championship and kind of bummed at the low turnout but timing, new things, and competing tournaments just don't help. Will have to rethink dates/tourney for next year.

We only had the 4 OGs today, so in lieu of league, we ended up playing a Front 9, 4 disc challenge and then used the opportunity to put in some course work before the 2026 Montgomery County Championship!

After the cleaning Will did yesterday, we focused on removing the downed tree on the top of 12 and also making the new right side gap for people that want a safer, but longer, route to the hole.

Back next week which is the week before the MCC so get your practice in. Also staying later to do some final work as we get ready for the tourney!
