Why are you truly playing select baseball?

Take a second and ask yourself… What is your “why?”

Everyone wants to win. There is nothing wrong with that. But if winning is the only thing you’re chasing, you may be focusing on the wrong goal.

Let’s look at the numbers.

In a typical youth tournament with 10 teams, let’s say there are Gold and Silver brackets. That means only:
🏆 1st Place Gold
🥈 2nd Place Gold
🏆 1st Place Silver
🥈 2nd Place Silver

Only 4 out of 10 teams will leave feeling like they “won.” That means 60% of the teams will go home empty-handed.

Now let’s look at the high school level.

There aren’t Gold and Silver brackets.

There’s one champion.

Using that same 10-team example, 90% of the field will walk away without a trophy.

So, if your only reason for choosing a team is because they win tournaments, eventually you’re going to be disappointed.

Because everyone loses eventually.

The better question is:

Is your player getting better?

Are they developing better mechanics?
Are they learning the game?
Are they becoming mentally tougher?
Are they being coached instead of just managed?
Are they preparing for the next level?

Trophies collect dust.

Development creates opportunities.

This is simply my opinion, but I believe families should look for an organization that is committed to developing players, not just collecting rings. Disclaimer this isn't about joining ABA but just some insight as well as genuinely asking a question.

Because when the wins stop—and they eventually will—the skills you’ve built are what remain.

So I’ll ask again…

What is your WHY?

Congrats to TITANS 13u Mulherin on capturing the West Texas 13u State Championship. After giving up a 3 run bomb in extra innings they fought back and tied it up again to push another inning. Then won it in walk off fashion. Man do we love some exciting baseball over here
