As school starts back up, teachers may find themselves spending a LOT of time redirecting, correcting, and teaching classroom structures and expectations.
One way to build positive behaviors is to give just as much attention to the behaviors we want to see as to the behaviors we want to change.
A few quick tips:
1. State the desired behavior.
Tell students what you want them to do instead of only telling them what not to do.
2. Catch the behavior you want repeated.
Look for students who are doing it rightâand notice them!
3. Praise, praise, praise!
Be specific about what youâre praising. Specific praise helps students know exactly what behavior you want to see again.
What positive behavior can you catch your students doing this week?
