Introducing… Miss Wendi 💗
Wendi Isaacson is a highly sought after tap dance performer, choreographer, teacher, and producer. She trained extensively under Colleen West, and was an original member of her tap company “Foot Poetry” for over 10 years. She has also trained under Rusty Frank, Dianne Walker, Savion Glover, and more.

Wendi holds her degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she graduated with University Honors in English and Dance Teaching. While at BYU she performed in World of Dance and Homecoming Spectacular. As a senior she was selected as one of three students to represent Brigham Young University at the National Dance Festival in Tucson, Arizona.
Wendi is the Founding Artistic Director of Rhythm Nation Tap Company and Time Bomb Tap Company, both based out of Utah. She has directed the Utah Tap Fest since 2018. In 2019 she debuted her first full-length tap choreography, “A Very Jazzy Nutcracker,” which is a full-length tap dance version of the Nutcracker set to jazz music. It has become an annual holiday favorite in Utah. She produces 2-3 tap dance concerts per year, which always sell out. Wendi loves to continue to push herself artistically and her latest tap production “Rhythm of the Lion”draws inspiration from the majestic spirit and pulsating beats of the savannah and the courage, unity, and beauty of the animal kingdom.
Wendi Isaacson is committed to learning and preserving historical tap pieces, and her tap company Rhythm Nation Tap Company has an extensive history of learning and performing historical tap works.

Wendi is committed to teaching the highest level of technique, and inspiring her students to achieve personal bests every day.
Wendi has been teaching at Balance for 7 years. We are so blessed to have Wendi and her amazing tapping skills at Balance. Our Adult tap class started here 7 years ago and has blossomed into such a wonderful community!

Introducing… Miss Hiedi 💛

With over 30 years of experience in movement, dance, and somatic education, Hiedi Blackwelder brings a deeply intuitive, body-positive approach to dance. Hiedi sees each dancer, regardless of age, as an artist and valuable contributor to the creative problem solving that inspires and structures each class.

In creating movement experiences and choreography for young dancers, she invites the children to direct and co-create with her.

Her extensive background blends the artistry of modern dance education and ballet with the grounding principles of Laban Bartenieff Fundamentals, hundreds of hours of yoga training (YTT), anatomy, and meditation.

Hiedi has been teaching at Balance for five seasons and teaches Contemporary 1 and 2 🌻

🩰A small bag for shoes
🩰 Black tap shoes
🩰 Pink Ballet shoes

Introducing… Miss Rondalei ❤️

Miss Rondee is returning for another season at Balance!

Rondee enjoys anything that includes movement and expressing the joy and love of dance.
She has taught varieties of dance since she was 16 years old and loves teaching contemporary, jazz and clogging

When her daughter Joon was born, Rondee became passionate about finding a place of patience and inclusion

After taking an adult tap class for the first time
Balance Studio Time Bomb Tap Company she immediately wanted to become part of the amazing family at Balance

She has always loved the connection, community and love she has felt at this studio and is excited to be teaching the all Adaptive classes, Jazz 5 & 6 & Tap 1

Together we explore movement, music, how our bodies work, life skills and so much more! She really believes that dance is for every single person to enjoy no matter the limitations or challenges.

In Balance classes, you always have a seat at the table. Or rather, a spot on stage 💫

When she is not dancing, she loves spending time with her family of almost FIVE kids, reading books and doing all the crafty things.

Introducing… Miss Katy!

Hi! My name is Katy Coles, and I’m so excited to be teaching dance! I’ve been dancing since I was four years old, and dance has been such a special part of my life ever since. My favorite styles to dance and teach are jazz and contemporary.

I’ve been teaching for four years, and I absolutely love getting to share my passion for dance with my students. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching each girl grow in confidence, discover her own style, and truly fall in love with dance. Seeing their excitement and watching them accomplish something they’ve worked hard for is one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher! 🩰✨

Outside of the studio, I love spending time with my husband, Jordan 🥰. We’ve been married for two years and are high school sweethearts! When I’m not dancing or teaching, I love making memories with him and enjoying time together.

I’m so grateful to be able to do something I’ve loved since I was little and share that love of dance with the next generation of dancers! ✨

Introducing…Miss Lori 🧡

Lori Higbee has been teaching dance and fitness to movers of all ages for nearly 30 years. She studied modern dance at Utah State University and earned her BS in Dance Pedagogy from the University of Idaho in Moscow. For 28 years, Lori has directed and taught contemporary dance programs in studios, where she has developed a deep passion for choreography, creativity, and the transformative power of movement.

Lori believes deeply that dance lessons are life lessons and that movement is healing. She founded Reach Dance Company, a nonprofit touring company that brings dance and dance education to children around the world. She also loves teaching therapeutic movement to older adults and individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as dance fitness, yoga, and Tai Chi.

Lori is currently an adjunct professor in the dance program at BYU and teaching contemporary classes at Balance Dance Studio. She is excited to begin another season of dance!

When she’s not in the studio, you’ll likely find Lori in the mountains on her bike or snowboard, fishing a river, or off-roading. She loves traveling, camping and most of all, spending time with her family.

Miss Lori teaches Contemporary 3 at Balance and this is her seventh season with us 💚

Introducing… Miss Whitney! 💗

Whitney De Groot graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Dance Education. Whitney loves teaching dance and has taught for about 20 years. 

She is currently the dance teacher at American Fork High School. In her free time Whitney enjoys crochet, doing puzzles, and listening to a good book.

Whitney loves teaching the dancers at Balance and loves the positive environment and focus on creativity and artistry that the studio brings to our local community.

We are going to introduce our returning teachers over the next few days

First up…Miss Lizzie 💗

Lizzie took her first ballet class at age three and later expanded her training to include jazz, tap, contemporary, and musical theater. She trained at Academy of Ballet in Utah County through high school; some of her roles included Black Swan in Swan Lake, Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, and Ballerina Doll in The Nutcracker. Lizzie continued her ballet and contemporary training throughout her time at BYU where she received her degree in Elementary Education.

Lizzie has been teaching ballet for close to 20 years in Utah, Washington, California, and Texas. She has directed and choreographed for several performing companies and helped direct and produce many recitals.

Lizzie’s passion is teaching and choreographing; she’s taught all ages from young children to adults and makes it her goal to infuse her students with a deep love of the art of ballet and excite them about being onstage and creating something beautiful.

Lizzie is mom to five boys ages 1-11 and loves having her girl world at the studio to help balance her boy world at home.

Lizzie teaches our Ballet 3, 4 & 5 and will producing our first annual Nutcracker. This is her third season with Balance 💚

We are happy to welcome Caitlin Wagner to Balance! Caitlin will be teaching Ballet 1B, 2A and Tap 2.

Caitlin began dancing at age 2 and has trained extensively in a variety of styles. She spent 10 years training at competitive studios, including The Pointe Academy and Hi-Light Dance Academy, where she studied ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, ballroom, and tap. At age 12, Caitlin transitioned to more specialized training in ballet and tap, attending ballet school at Utah Festival Ballet and joining Rhythm Nation Tap Company.

Throughout high school, Caitlin performed several featured soloist roles with Rhythm Nation and Utah Festival Ballet. Since graduating high school, Caitlin has remained a member of Rhythm Nation’s adult company and continues to guest in performances with Utah Festival Ballet.

Over the past year, Caitlin has discovered a deep love for teaching dance. She teaches private lessons and enjoys choreographing original works, with a teaching philosophy centered on building dancers up. Caitlin strives to challenge her students to reach their highest potential while creating an environment that strengthens not only their technique and artistry, but also their confidence. Joy is her #1 priority in the classroom, and she loves sharing her passion for tap, ballet, and choreography with her students. She is excited to create new works with Balance Dance Studio and help her students grow in their own dance endeavors.

Outside of dance, Caitlin is entering her second year at Utah State University Salt Lake, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. Her love of floriculture and involvement in FFA throughout high school inspired her to pursue a career in floral design and agriculture. She is also a licensed florist and owner of CM Floral & Co., where she creates event florals in her spare time.
