Many have been here 15+ years and give our residents the loving respectful care they deserve. We offer assistance with Activities of Daily Living (dressing, bathing etc), dementia care programs and Hospice. Respite and Day Care are also available. We actively participate in fund raising activities (lodge events and Walk to End Alzheimer's) to fund research to find a cure for this debilitating disease that robs us of our loved ones. Grandparents Day may be coming to an end, but the love they give us never does. ❤️

Grandparents have a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable. A familiar story, a favorite recipe, a gentle hand, or simply the comfort of knowing they are there.

Today, we celebrate the grandparents who have shaped families, shared wisdom, created traditions, and filled generations with love.

Research suggests that creative activities such as knitting, crocheting, crafts, painting, and other hands-on hobbies may be associated with better cognitive health as we age.

Why might these activities matter?

Because they ask the brain to do several things at once:

🧠 Follow patterns
✋ Coordinate hand movements
🔢 Count and sequence
🎨 Make decisions and solve small problems
💭 Remember steps and instructions

That doesn't mean knitting can prevent dementia.

But it does remind us of something important:

A meaningful hobby is more than something to pass the time. It can be an opportunity to keep the hands moving, the mind engaged, and a sense of purpose alive.

Caregivers don't need to diagnose the cause. But you can notice the change, look for patterns, document what you observe, and share those details with the healthcare team.

And if you suspect a medication may be contributing, never stop or change it without speaking with the prescribing healthcare professional.

Sometimes, the most important question isn't “How do we stop this behavior?”
It’s “What is this person trying to tell us?”
