Brady Berg got it done on opening day here in WISCONSIN! 🐻
“I spent the summer baiting and had this bear coming in early on, but then he disappeared. I kept at it all summer hoping he would eventually make his way back. Sure enough, the evening before Wisconsin bear opener, he finally showed back up, and in daylight. Needless to say, I was pretty excited going into opening day.
I climbed into the stand at 2:30, and about two hours into the sit, a smaller bear around 150 pounds came in and hit my bait. Then at about 5:30, this big guy showed up. Seeing him walk in after all the time and work I had put in throughout the summer was an experience unlike anything I’ve ever had. I was absolutely pumped, but managed to pull it together when it counted. He only went about 35 yards, and when everything was said and done, my first bear dressed out at 500 pounds.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to harvest an animal like this and to have everything come together on opening day. A huge thank you to the family and friends who came out and helped me get him out of the woods, because moving a 500 pound bear definitely takes some help! I have a tremendous amount of respect for this animal and couldn’t be more thankful for the experience. Still hard to believe it all came together the way it did. Definitely a hunt I’ll never forget.“
