Texas Wiffle Ball League

No movement in the standings this week, but it was an exciting week nonetheless.

Who’s Your Daddy set its single-season franchise wins record, the Pork Chops picked up two wins, the Crooked Rooks made yet another championship game appearance, and Wyatt Flowers recorded his first career hit.

The Flying Turtles came out on top in Week 8 behind what very well may have been the most prolific team offensive performance in recent memory.

The quartet of Gage West, Ian O’Hare, Nolan Chasak, and Connor Retterath powered the Turtles to 48 runs, 44 hits, and 12 home runs, as they run-ruled their opponents in two of their three games.

The All Star break is over and the home stretch of the season starts today. Happy game day!

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to announce that Who’s Your Daddy is one win away from setting its single-season franchise record.

The Dad Squad squares off against the Flying Turtles in the opening slate. If they can pull off the upset, it would be a story that lives on in league lore for years to come.

In other news, the Cookie Monsters took a tumble in the rankings after a disappointing follow-up to their electric Week 6. The Crooked Rooks moved up a spot after what was almost an unforgettable night for them, but the Cosby Show played spoiler and walked away as the big winners of the week.

The summer of Nolan Chasak continues.

While it has been a down year for offense across the league, as the weather has heated up in recent weeks, so have the bats of Jackson Richardson, Cooper Ruckel, and Ian O’Hare. They each now find themselves firmly in the race for the Silver Slugger, but what matters most to their teams is if they can keep mashing come playoff time.

A look at the pitching leaders as we come out of the All Star Break.

Ian O’Hare and Skylar Burt remain in a tier of their own at the top of the pack. Austin Martin’s breakout season has made him a name you’ll hear plenty come award season. And all-time TWBL great Cooper Ruckel has thrown several big games for the Cosby Show en route to putting together his best medium pitch season.
