Thanks to the PK dojo community for a wonderful picnic yesterday!

There was a potluck feast, lots of comraderie, babies, dogs, bubbles, and a giant frisbee. There was also plenty of competition: a standing long jump mat, playground spring races, and an ongoing effort to dethrone Sensei Gary from the chess board.

Campers had a blast during China Camp last week at Potomac Kempo - Huntington Metro! We competed in various physical and mental exercises, expressed ourselves through visual and performing arts, ate and drank new (and sometimes powerful) food and drinks. Special thanks to our wonderful camp counselors for their engagement throughout the week.

Each week focuses on a different country. You don’t have to be a PK student to attend camp; invite your friends and siblings to join you for this fantastic adventure!

Our Cultural Exploration will allow us to study History, Geography, Music, Language, Mythos, Cuisine, Art, Festivals, and so much more! Topics are presented using many small-group hands-on activities. And of course there will be martial arts workouts – one each morning and afternoon.

Potomac Kempo Tournament Twenty-Six is in the books! On Sunday, more than 200 competitors across Kids, Juniors, and Adult divisions competed in five events (Kempos, Katas, Sparring, Weapons, and Kung Fu) across six rings (phew).

The competition was fierce, and every single participant showed up with focus, heart, and the kind of effort that takes your breath away. Some people took home medals, one dojo took home a trophy, and everyone walked away with lessons learned and brand new goals.

Most importantly, the community showed up, and that is everything. Our tournament has been a tradition for nearly two decades because of our hard-working competitors, parents, grandparents, spouses, significant others, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, pets, and of course, instructors. Thank you for the full support of our community.

Here's to the next 26.
