Shot timers: They're mandatory.
Shot timers are mandatory for anyone genuinely interested in improving their shooting skills. They aren't some intermediate or advanced resource that needs to be earned or gate kept from new shooters. You need an objective measurement of your current skill set and further improvement thereafter. There is no way to do this without a shot timer. "It felt faster" doesn't cut it. Shooting untimed without any appropriate stressor isn't "training", it's a waste of time. I don't care if it takes you 10 seconds to draw your firearm and shoot your first shot, at least we have a starting point. From there we work on getting that to 9.5, then 9.0, then 8.5 and so on. Using a shot timer is literally a beginner level asset that everyone should be using. "There's no shot timer in a gun fight". Of course there isn't, but when there are fractions of a second between whether you live or die, it's best to know where you stand.
