Thank you to the all the individuals who showed up to support your teammates.
All of the individuals throughout the years That pushed them, Helped them, advised them and learned from them.
You are all the heart and soul of the team.
Professor Felipe
Felipe has been one of the Originals of Team Invictus. Starting with us as a white belt many years back.
Supporting us through Covid, Felipe, was not only one of the biggest factors in why our kids program became as strong and numerous as it is, but, also his teaching of adult classes has built a strong following of individuals learning his unique Style and tricks that they apply regularly in the academy.
Felipe has been one of the teams strongest supporters over the years and we are all very grateful for his time that he has shared with us on the mats.
Professor Russell,
Joined our Academy over a year ago as an accomplished brown belt bringing his solid fundamentals and strong skills to our team.
Russell has been training down south for about 10 years and regularly attends our classes and even teaches his skills. He has been a great asset to our team and always brings great energy and solid rolls to our mats.
Congratulations Russ.
Professor Kar,
Kar joined our gym with Russ after driving up for a community open mat they thought was a week earlier than it was scheduled
Being gym homeless at the time, they were both getting in training with each other where they could. And after rolling at our Academy decided to stick around and join our team.
Kar was the reason that Russell started jiu-jitsu. Being one of his first coaches. Kar has been training and teaching for 16 years. Showing that even with a lot of twists and turns in your journey persistence and dedication will always get you to your goal.
Kar is one of the toughest rolls on the mats and it was a pleasure being there and awarding him his long dese

Gi BJJ at 7:00 PM

See you all on the mats!
Success Tip:
You will regularly hear your coaches say that you should spar as often as you can after classes.
It definitely helps you build application knowledge.
However, for most of us as we are starting out this can be very overwhelming to do. You don't feel like you know enough to be successful or the process feels like drinking water from a firehouse.
Here is something that can help you to be successful.
When you are first starting out in BJJ your goal should be to get on top and stay on top.
Don't try focusing on all of the different techniques you have been learning.
Don't try focusing on submissions.
Focus on just surviving and staying on top.
Everything else will come.
Manager breathing and manage your output. That is crucial.
Also don't forget to ask lots of questions of your teammates. We are all here to help each other get better not collect wins.
Lastly, give yourself permission and grace to not be perfect when you are just learning. Everybody starts from the beginning, but we have a tendency to judge ourselves based on the skills of those of us around us even when the people around us have been doing it for significantly longer.
See you on the mats!

Congratulations to all the individuals who earned a new belt last night.
The kids and adults who leveled up put in a tremendous amount of work and dedication to achieve what they have.
It was a pleasure for our coaches to be able to honor them with their new belts.
Proud of you all.
Thank you to all the teammates and families who showed up in support.
We can't do this alone. It may seem like an individual sport, but it requires a team to grow.
I am personally grateful for you all sharing the mats and calling Invictus your home.

Jiu-jitsu is one of the best activities for self improvement.
You'll have days you feel amazing
You'll have days you wonder why you even go.
You'll have your resilience tested.
Your discipline tested.
It will teach you confidence in your abilities and that the hardest challenges are just a process that can be solved.
But, contrary to the marketing, Jiu-jitsu is NOT for everyone.
It's hard...
It requires a commitment to yourself.
It requires you to believe in yourself.
It requires trust in the process.
And a willingness to keep showing up when it gets hard.
But it's worth it.
