Albuquerque’s Rail Trail project is moving forward with the next phase planned to connect the Sawmill District to Old Town, the ABQ BioPark and the Bosque as part of a planned 7-mile loop.
The city’s long-term vision is to create a pedestrian and bicycle route connecting some of Albuquerque’s most popular destinations, including Old Town, Downtown, the Rail Yards, the BioPark and the Bosque Trail system.
Officials say the next phase will include safety and accessibility improvements, with features such as lighting, emergency call boxes and other upgrades planned along the route.
The Rail Trail is expected to become a major recreational and transportation corridor for central Albuquerque.
