Eloise Woolsey is New Mexico's first-ever Girls Fargo National Champion!

Eloise put together an unforgettable tournament, going 6-0 with victories over wrestlers from Georgia, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Every match showcased her toughness, composure, and determination against the best competition in the country.

Her championship run included avenging previous losses and finishing with a victory over a World bronze medalist in the finals. That's the kind of performance that defines a champion.

This is more than an individual title. Eloise has forever changed the history of wrestling in New Mexico. She has shown every young girl in our state that a Fargo national championship is possible through hard work, belief, and perseverance.

Congratulations, Eloise! Your performance, your legacy, and the path you've helped create for future generations of New Mexico wrestlers will be remembered for years to come.

College wrestler and astronaut, Victor Glover, is the pilot of Artemis II, the rocket that launched yesterday to fly to the moon! Victor placed in the California High School State Championships and graduated from Cal Poly, while competing in both wrestling and football.

Youth wrestling isn’t supposed to be fair

Parents chase fairness like it’s the goal.
Perfect brackets.
Perfect refs.
Perfect circumstances.

That’s not what wrestling offers.

Wrestling offers reality.

Bad calls happen.
Bad draws happen.
You will lose matches you should’ve won.

If parents frame every inconvenience as injustice,
they teach kids to outsource accountability.

But wrestling’s greatest lesson is internal control.
You don’t control the ref.
You don’t control the bracket.
You control preparation.
You control response.

Life will never be fair.
Wrestling prepares kids for that truth early.

That’s not a flaw.
That’s the feature.
