Judo, meaning “The Gentle Way,” is a very effective means of self-defense while being a safe, non-violent way of controlling an opponent. Brentwood Tournament
Hanabi students fought valiantly at Scholar’s Academy on Saturday, August 23 and came home with lots of bling! Out of our 12 students we earned six golds and 4 silvers. This was especially impressive when seven of our 12 competitors were fighting in their first tournament! Special congratulations to our first-timers Moses and Duncan who got gold; and Khaknazar, Ethan and Joshie who got silver. Proud of you all!

Last Saturday, Charlee left for Boston University, where she’ll be studying Biology with hopes of pursuing pre-med.
Charlee has been part of our Hanabi family for many years, and while we’ll miss having her with us, we couldn’t be more proud of her as she takes on this exciting new chapter.

August In-Class Shiai
This past Saturday was the July in-class shiai (tournament.) Our little ones did sumo but the “Honto” (real) team judo was thrilling as our teams all ended up tied and only after checking individual scores did we reach a final winner. Best Technique went to Genevieve and Khaknazar; Spirit Awards: 9 year old Hiroshi, who fought valiantly against 12 year old Kai, and Keiden who did great with twin brother, Taiyo.
