On behalf of Bookworm Yoga, we are saddened at the loss of a true icon. One who strived for so much more than the spotlight. Her love for reading and literacy has helped to deliver books to the hands of so many children across the world. Rest in peace, Dolly Parton.

📚 What exactly is Bookworm Yoga?
People often ask us how movement and storytelling connect to early literacy.
The answer is…in more ways than you might think!
While we’re not teaching children to read in our classes, we are helping build the foundation that reading grows from.
During every Bookworm Yoga adventure, children practice:
✨ Listening to and following a story from beginning to end
✨ Learning new vocabulary through meaningful, engaging adventures
✨ Predicting what might happen next and solving problems alongside our characters
✨ Answering questions, sharing ideas, and building oral language skills
✨ Remembering story events and connecting the lesson to their own lives
✨ Developing a love of stories through movement, imagination, and play
When children become part of the story by buzzing like bees, climbing hills with snails, swimming with fish, or exploring with crabs, they aren’t just moving their bodies. They’re actively engaging with language, comprehension, sequencing, and storytelling in a way that’s memorable and fun!

🦀🌈 This week we went on an adventure with Cody the Crab!
Cody grew up on a beach where every crab was orange, so he thought all crabs should look the same. But after a giant wave carried him to Rainbow Beach, he discovered colorful crabs who each had their own special strengths. From helping baby sea turtles to creating beautiful shell art and making new friends feel included, Cody learned that our differences are what make the world beautiful.
Our mantra this week was:
✨ “Different makes us beautiful!” ✨
After our yoga adventure, we brought Cody’s journey to life by creating our own colorful crab crafts. Just like Rainbow Beach, every crab turned out a little different, and that’s exactly what made them so beautiful! 💛🦀
