Bring a Friend Week starts Monday. Here's the whole thing:
1. Your dancer invites a friend to a class that fits the friend's age (no adults, please).
2. The friend's parent or guardian completes the sign-up form before class: https://forms.gle/nMpt9NooYu8jFotN7
3. They show up Sept 14-19 and dance, free. Both kids take home a RAD Friendship Bracelet (while supplies last).
Bonus: if the friend registers for RAD classes that same week, their $55 registration fee is waived and you get a $55 credit on your account.
A few sold-out classes can't take guests this week: Wednesday Int Lyrical/Contemporary, Wednesday Pr***en Jazz Funk, Wednesday Teen Jazz Funk, and Friday Hip Hop 7-9yr. Pro-level classes need 14+ with 5+ years in the style. Questions: [email protected]

Meta just agreed to pay up to $17 billion over what its apps were doing to kids, and the changes for anyone under 18 are real: a two-hour daily cap, a midnight-to-6 a.m. blackout, hidden like counts.

But the settlement changes the app. It doesn't change what a kid actually needs instead of it. A January 2026 study of more than 50,000 kids found physical activity, not screen content, not even sleep, was the single biggest factor explaining why heavy screen time hurts kids' mental health, accounting for up to 38.9% of the link.

A new RAD tradition.

For 31 years, Darryl and Linda Retter built the studio we all call home, and they taught every dancer who walked through the door that dance lessons are life lessons. The Darryl & Linda Retter Legacy Scholarship carries that forward.

This one is not about the strongest dancer or the highest extension. It recognizes a RAD dancer who makes a positive difference in the lives of the people around them. Kindness. Integrity. Encouragement. A real love of dance.

Open to RAD dancers age 10 and up who have been with us at least two seasons and are enrolled for 2026-27. The application is a few short written questions plus a 2 to 3 minute video. Applications are due Tuesday, September 15.

What if the fix for a kid's feed was never inside the feed?

But the stat that stuck with us came from somewhere else. A January study of more than 50,000 kids found physical activity accounted for up to 38.9% of the link between heavy screen time and mental health problems. Not the content. Not even sleep. Movement.

A two-hour cap frees up time. It doesn't fill it. That part is still on us as parents, and we've been building the thing that fills it since 1991.
