Firework night at Crawford County Speedway. It was an extremely hot one and a late night. We rolled into the drive way around 4 this morning.
Heat race 5th ➡️ 3rd. Wyatt did a great job of being patient and working his way around a couple of cars.
A feature 8th ➡️ 10th. He did a great job all night of missing guys spinning/almost spinning out in front of him or stopping dead on the track. Was up to 6th when on the final restart a guy spun right in front of him and he spun to avoid straight clobbering the guy......getting hit in the left rear quarter by a car behind him. It was the last lap and it stayed green so he kept it going to salvage a 10th place finish.
He got out of the car for the 1st time frustrated because he felt like he had a good top 5 car. Seeing that passion he has for this sport makes those late nights all worth it 💪
The kids really enjoyed the fireworks. Say what you want, but they put on one heck of a show!

Well, Wyatt got the opportunity to try another new track. 81 Speedway with 27 cars 😬😵💫 4th ➡️ 4th in his heat race. Locked him straight into the A feature starting 12th. Unfortunately his safety hub on the right rear broke coming to the checkers, ending his night early. But at least he was able to hang with them and transfer without running a B!

Been a bit since we've had a weekend race report....
We got this car in on trade. Did some work to it. Threw a spare 525 in it.....put it up for sale. We currently don't have a trailer big enough to haul it, so that limits where we can go. Since Salina is about 7-8 miles south of our house, Nathan decided to just drive it there and turn some laps in it. It's the one type of dirt car he has never raced before.
Friday night, car just absolutely would not turn all night. Got the shocks on a dyno, made some adjustments, and decided to give it another go.
Saturday night, car would actually turn. Still super tight, but didn't finish dead last in qualifying. Heat race-finished & logged laps. Made some more changes for the B feature. Car was turning better, driver was getting more comfortable, and was actually starting to pass cars when the right front lower ball joint broke ending the night.
All in all though, it was a good weekend and learned a lot! Wyatt enjoyed being the main crew guy for dad, Gracie enjoyed riding her bike around, and Teddy enjoyed his bike rides and attention he got 🤣

Well, hopefully the rain stays away so that Nathan can race the late model for the 1st time.

Wyatt said he had a lot of fun even during the demo derby 😆 He started 5th, got ran smooth over on the start, did a complete restart, he passed some, got passed, etc. Had a guy almost turn him into the infield wall but he was able to save it and drove back up to 3rd then got a little loose and lost some ground, finishing 6th. Very proud of him for avoiding so much going on around him and finishing the race 💪
