I think it's kind of funny! Everybody thinks the lake's going to be too crowded on a holiday weekend so doesn't go fishing. The lake ends up being less crowded with fishermen than any other weekend. Lol you just need to be off the water by about 10:00 or 11:00 before the crazy happens. Here's a nice striper caught by Extreme Stripers Guide Service

CLOSING EARLY FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!! WE WILL BE CLOSING AT NOON TODAY AND NOON TOMORROW FOR THE HOLIDAY. Between the heat and the traffic I don't think it's worth staying open after noon.

BIG OLD BUCKET MOUTH! Beautiful largemouth caught by Extreme Stripers Guide Service the other day. We were doing a corporate tournament so we had the measuring stick in the boat. Got a quick measurement on it and released it to be caught another day. I never tried to get into the topic of what fish to keep in what fish not to keep. My personal thoughts on it though are as follows. We like to keep crappie, white bass and spotted bass. We will keep a couple hybrids. All stripers and largemouth get released. They're just not that many of them in the lake. The only way to get a trophy is to practice a little catch and release. The crappie aremore of a kitchen release.
