Village Manor Steps of Support Relay Walk raised $1,598
to support residents, Parkinsonโs Fund
(July 15, 2026) Abilene, KS - The Village Manor Steps of Support Relay Walk, held June 6, brought the community together for a meaningful cause; raising $1,598 to enhance the lives of Village Manor residents living with a wide range of health conditions, and individuals across the community living with Parkinson's disease.
Part of the funds raised were used to purchase a BlazePodโข interactive therapy system for Village Manor residents. BlazePod is an innovative rehabilitation and reaction training platform that uses wireless, color-changing light pods to engage users in physical and cognitive exercises. The system is widely used in physical therapy and rehabilitation settings to improve reaction time, balance, coordination, agility and cognitive focus. Because the exercises can be customized to each individual's abilities, BlazePod is beneficial for people of all ages and mobility levels, including those recovering from injury, stroke or neurological conditions.
Proceeds from the event also allowed Village Manor to donate $600 to the Parkinson's Fund at Impact Sports & Fitness, helping support access for people across the community to specialized Parkinson's services.
Village Manor plans to purchase additional equipment with the remaining funds raised to enhance care for residents who live with COPD and dementia.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this year's Steps of Support Relay Walk," said Andy Sutter, Village Manor executive director. "Every registration, sponsorship and donation helped us invest in meaningful resources that will benefit our residents and help to ensure Parkinson's patients are supported in our community."
