Meet Mike Spears, the 2027 manager for your Abilene Flying Bison 🦬🪽

Coach Spears has more than 20 years of experience as a player and coach. Before dedicating himself fully to baseball, Spears served as a law enforcement officer with the San Diego Sheriff's Department, where he received the
department's Medal of Honor as well as the California State Medal of Valor for his service.

In the latest episode of the Flying Bison Baseball Spotlight, Coach Spears talked with James Trietley (voice of the AFB and Director of Broadcast) about his background and joining the Bison next summer.

Introducing the manager of your 2027 Abilene Flying Bison, Mike Spears! 🦬🪽

Mike comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is currently the Pitching and Player Development Coach at Chattanooga State Community College.

John Stark, President and General Manager of the Flying Bison, had this to say about Spears joining the organization:

“I absolutely could not be more excited to introduce Mike Spears as the next manager of the Flying Bison. Coach Spears brings an abundance of baseball knowledge to the table but will also be able to share his life experiences off the field to pour into our players and make them more well-rounded individuals.

He is ready to embrace the Flying Faithful and the community as a whole as we move into this next era of Flying Bison Baseball.”

We’re so excited to have Mike join the Flying Bison organization and look forward to him elevating our program in 2027. Welcome, Coach Spears!
