FUFA hands Kadiba OverTo NCS For AFCON 2027 Development

Kadiba Stadium has oficially been handed over to the government of Uganda for development into a CAF-certified training ground for the Pamoja AFCON 2027 tournament to be hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
In the presence and with the endorsement of the Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo handed over the facility to the National Council of Sports (NCS) who in turn handed it over the UPDF Engineering Brigade for commencement of works.
The Engineering Brigade’s Col. James Lwegaba committed to immediately starting Shs 5.189bn worth of work on the ground, for among other things a new standardised pitch (playing surface), improvements on the floodlights, small electrical works and ICT installations.
NCS General Secretary Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel confirmed that the legal requirements for the handover to government had been completed and that the money for development had been availed this Financial Year, and NCS Chairman Ambrose Tashobya implored the Engineering Brigade to complete this relatively limited scope of works in less time than the contractually stipulated six months.
Supervised by the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Enginering Brigade is simultaneously working on training grounds in Kyambogo, Makerere Univerisity, Hoima Boma Grounds, Masindi Grounds, Lira University, Gulu University and Pece Stadium.
FUFA President Eng. Magogo thanked government for the heavy investment in Namboole, Hoima City Stadium and Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira to fully cover the requirements of international football, and implored Minister Ogwang to extend the infrastructure drive to regional facilities to cover domestic competitions, with emphasis on Mbarara, Jinja, Mbale and West Nile.
Hon. Ogwang articulated that those areas had already been planned for and, the challenges of land ownership aside, the implementation will follow. He reaffirmed that money for all these facilities would be availed, with the greater strategy being to boost sports tourism and with it the economy of Uganda.

SILVER FOR
GAZELLES AS
AUSTRALIANS
TAKE THE GOLD
🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬

Team Uganda has bagged a second Silver Medal of the Games, as the Gazelles settled for second following the 21-11 loss to Australia in the women’s 3x3 basketball competition. Uganda’s first medal, a Silver too, had come from para-swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe two days earlier.
Melissa Akullu, Jane Asinde, Jamila Nansikombi and Perus Nyamwenge have won over hearts at the Scottish Events Centre with gutsy and stylish perfomances, but that combo came up just short against the much bigger and better shooting Australia, who had also won the group encounter involving the two earlier.
The Gazelles still made history though in this sporting discipline’s maiden Commonwealth Games appearance. Among their may victims were Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Kenya, Tonga and New Zealand, for a well earned Silver.

SURE MEDAL AS
GAZELLES ROLL
OVER NZ IN SEMIS
🇺🇬🇺🇬* 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬

Team Uganda is now sure of a second medal after the Gazelles rolled over New Zealand in the first 3×3 women’s basketball semifinal, winning 21-9.
Melissa Akullu, Jane Asinde, Jamila Nansikombi and Perus Nyamwenge are our new heroines after they came through the battle of their lives to start the game, hustling on defense with active hands and a lot of switching to contain the versatile New Zelanders. Then the Gazelles offense kicked in on the inside and behind the arc, and with 3 minutes on the clock this job was done. It was smoother sailing from then to the end, as the New Zealanders wilted under the Gazelles relentlessness and the noise from a passionate Ugandan crowd.
Nick Natuhereza’s girls await the winner of the Australia-Jamaica semi for the Gold Medal match tonight.

One more win, and the Gazelles will bag a sure medal. This comes after a truly dominant 21-12 performance against Tonga in a playoff tonight got them into the semifinals of the 3×3 women’s basketball competition. Using their size advantage in the low post, Jane Asinde and Melissa Akullu got some easy buckets at the hoop, while Jamila Nansikombi and Perus Nyamwenge went to work on the outside with their superior handles, quickness and craftiness. The Ugandan quartet will need that enitre skills set and then some, to overcome a much tougher opponent in New Zealand.
