The King of , Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, has died at the age of 34, his family has announced.

JUST IN: The Tooro Kingdom has officially announced that His Majesty, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, is currently in critical condition, prompting an outpouring of prayers and support.

In a statement shared on X, Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors, speculation, or unverified information regarding the King’s health.

MP is moving a motion urging government to fast-track the establishment of Bunyoro Public University.

MP says it is the duty of government to take care of its citizens, including delivering them safe from danger like the repatriated Ugandans. She is uncomfortable with the idea of thanking government officials for simply doing their job.

MPs are debating a motion to pay tribute to President for repatriating Ugandans safe following deadly xenophobic protests in South Africa against African immigrants. The protests saw scores killed and businesses torched and or looted, prompting government to repatriate Ugandans at high risk of the attacks.

MP Anna Maria Nankabirwa is moving a motion (attached) for a resolution of Parliament to appreciate President for evacuating and repatriating the Ugandan nationals in distress from the Republic of South Africa.

LOP says the number of Ugandans leaving the country for opportunities abroad is a consequence of limited job openings in the country. For this reason, he says, they endure life threatening conditions just to struggle and provide for their families. He asks government to become serious about job creation

Hon Sarah Babirye Kityo said responsiveness is one of the tenets of good governance, and for that reason, President deserves applause for heeding the cries of Ugandans in danger of xenophobic attacks is South Africa.

The Katikiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has applauded Rotarians for the efforts aimed at improving health standards in this country, specifically cancer.

He made the remarks while engaging with Rotarians who had paid a courtesy visit to Bulange Mengo ahead of the Rotary Cancer Run scheduled for this Sunday, 30th August 2026.

Mayiga said matters related to health are crucial in the social development of this country and are backed by good leadership. He pointed out Rotarian efforts in tackling issues that are crucial to the country.
