UN: Civilian Death Toll in Ukraine Reaches One of the Highest Levels Since the Start of the War

At least 265 civilians were killed and 1,816 injured in Ukraine as a result of Russian attacks in June, according to the United Nations. This marks one of the highest monthly civilian casualty totals since the beginning of the full-scale war. The number of civilian casualties has now risen for the third consecutive month, highlighting the continued escalation of the humanitarian impact of the conflict.

According to UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo, at least 265 civilians were killed and 1,816 injured in June. In May, the death toll stood at 274 civilians. The UN stressed that the June figures are preliminary and that the actual number of casualties may be significantly higher.

Overall, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the United Nations has verified the deaths of at least 16,402 civilians, including 802 children. A total of 48,428 people have been injured.
