Ancil Greene is a former Trinidad and Tobago National Triathlon Champion, a two-time Special Olympics medalist, accomplished endurance athlete, certified swim coach, lifeguard and mentor whose life story is a testament to perseverance, resilience and overcoming adversity.
Through discipline, faith and determination, Ancil rose from Special Olympics competition to become a national triathlon champion several times over, proving that true champions are forged through commitment, hard work and perseverance. He has represented Trinidad and Tobago with distinction at the Special Olympics World Games, earning gold in the 4x50m freestyle relay and silver in the 100m breaststroke, before going on to dominate local triathlon competition for over a decade.
Today, Coach Ancil serves as Head Coach of Uncle Ancil and Aunty Soy Aqua Academy and the Mighty Makos Swim Club, where he and his wife, Aunty Soy, are committed to raising not only strong swimmers but strong young people.
His commitment to excellence extends far beyond coaching. In an extraordinary labour of love, Ancil personally project managed, plumbed, wired, painted and tiled the Academy's pool facility by himself, and in December 2025 refurbished the pool (help with removing paint was given by his Pastor and several of the parents in the club) with a Diamond Brite finish.
To this day, he continues to maintain the facility with his own hands, ensuring that every child who walks through its gates has access to a safe and inspiring environment in which to learn and grow.
Coach Ancil and Aunty Soy believe that swimming is about more than strokes and medals. Their mission is to help children become champions and overcomers — in the water, in the classroom and in life.
"Champions are not born; they are built through perseverance, discipline and the courage to keep going when others would stop”.
