در اعماق اقیانوس چه می‌گذرد؟ ماهی مرکب هومبولت (Dosidicus gigas) در امتداد سواحل آمریکای شمالی و جنوبی، از شیلی تا باجای کالیفرنیا شکار می‌کند. طول این شکارچیان حرفه‌ای می‌تواند به بیش از دو متر برسد. برخلاف بسیاری از شکارچیان بزرگ‌تر، ماهی مرکب هومبولت می‌تواند در اعماقی که آب حاوی اکسیژن محلول بسیار کمی است شکار کند.
