The last Friday of the month meant only 1 thing, our Tenzing Pacific sponsor day.

This month we travelled to Bangpra, one of the most testing courses we play at 6500 yards coupled with the slick greens scoring is never high and today the course well and truly won, 8 groups of players and nobody beat their handicap, a real test of golf.

We got away ahead of time and pace of play was good, the course is still in great condition and of course the monkey mafia was out in force waiting to pounce on any unattended buggies!

Thanks to the new golfers for joining us and to all the loyal supporters that play this event every month, was nice to see some returning players too. It’s always a great day with lots of good cash prizes and once again the free food today was delicious and went down very well.

As always a huge thank you to Craig and his team at Tenzing Pacific Services for continuing to sponsor this day, should anyone need insurance or looking to retire here, please give Craig a shout he will be happy to help you, also if anyone needs help with a property purchase you can contact Craig or Kahouze who will be more than happy to assist and a final thank you to the staff at the sport hub for keeping the drinks flowing well into the night!

We had 5 women in the field today and I was going to do a top woman prize, there was no need as both 1st and 2nd were women, showing us men how to get it round Bangpra.

Congratulations to today’s winner my playing partner Fon Stevens with 35pts, a great round Fon and a well deserved win, plenty of time to practice before the season ending race to Phuket matchplay.

2nd place was last Fridays winner Apple with a very good 34pts, another good round Apple and nice to see you in the prizes again, a solid 22pts on the front 9 was very impressive.

We then had a 4 way tie all with 33pts that had to be separated on a back 9 CB.

In 3rd winning the CB with an impressive 20pts on the back 9 was Witt Mann, those range sessions are obviously paying off, great back 9 mate.

4th place with 18pts on the back 9 was Phil Starrett, great to see you back playing mate, one of the few cards with a score on every hole, impressive on this course, another consistent round of a 6 handicap.

5th place was another of my playing partners Gary Casson who had 17pts on the back 9, another blob free round and a great round tee to green, if only that putter had warmed up earlier it could have been a hell of a round, enjoyed the day mate.

6th and final place today was our sponsor Craig McAvinue, Craig had 31pts thru 14 holes and looked good for his first win as sponsor with us but then only scored 2pts from the final 4, still a solid round mate and great to see you make the prizes, thanks again for a great day:

Our midweek game took us to the Pete Dye designed Khao Kheow Country Club, a difficult course for many so we again decided to play the forward white tees at 5800 yards, not sure if it was just me but felt much longer than that!

Some major clubhouse renovations ongoing and if the new locker rooms are anything to go by the new clubhouse should be spectacular, excited to see it finished later in the year.

We started on the daunting C course with water left and OB right, never an easy opener, then we played A for our back 9, overall the course was in good condition but a slight difference in green speed between C and A took some adjustment.

Today’s winner was the Irish/Australian Patrick Gibbons with a brilliant 38pts off his 8hcp, great round Paddy, hope you and Adam enjoy the rest of the week golfing in Pattaya, nice to see you both.

2nd place today was everybody’s favourite Geordie Mark Johnstone with a solid 37pts, a very consistent round scoring on every hole, impressive going round Khao Kheow mate, well done.

3rd place today was Preston’s finest shuffler Gary Carson with 34pts, first round back this trip and straight onto the podium, good to see you back mate and reunited with your long lost twin Richard!

4th place today just missing out to Gary on a back 6 CB was Mike Warren who at the last minute decided to squeeze in 1 more round before returning to the US, well worth playing and good to see you get one over on Khao Kheow after last time, safe travels back home and see you in November.

5th and final place today was my playing partner Nathan Bartlett with a solid 33pts just beating Dave Arataki on a CB, Nathan’s highlight was 6 inches for birdie on the Par 3 C3 hole, close one that mate, would have been some bar bill!

Just like that we are into the last full week of August and we began our golfing week with another good turnout taking 20 golfers to Bangpakong.

It was extremely humid when we arrived, but thankfully a breeze picked up and kept the temperature manageable.

As always we played the white tees at 6400 yards and the course was quiet, all our groups finishing in good time. There was some maintenance taking place in a few areas but this didn’t stop some good scoring, they had cored the greens a few weeks ago and it has to be said, they were rolling fantastic.

Today’s winner has been playing occasionally with us for a while now, congratulations to Baek Yong Hyeon with a brilliant 40pts from his 9 handicap, great round Baek 🏆

2nd place today was Mr Bangpakong himself Dan Chanthapo with a solid 37pts, I saw Dan on the range on Sunday and he claimed he would get 40pts, not sure what went wrong 🤪 solid round mate.

There was then a bunch of players with 36pts, best of these In 3rd place today was Michael McGrath with a brilliant 22pts on the back 9, strong finish that mate, well done.

In 4th today narrowing missing out on CB was my playing partner Phil Starrett, great to see you back playing mate, enjoyable day and a good round.

5th and final place today also with 36pts was Robi Lindolm another steady round mate.
