Effective from 31 August 2026 (00:00 Thailand time), the DTV requirements changed worldwide. Applicants must now:
1. Apply in their country of nationality OR a country where they have permanent residence. It is no longer sufficient simply to be physically present in another country as a visitor. For example, an applicant cannot normally travel to Laos, Vietnam, Japan, etc. solely to submit a DTV application unless they are a national or permanent resident there.
2. Provide proof of permanent residence in the country/territory where the DTV application is submitted. This replaces the former general requirement for proof of current location.
3. Provide a Certificate of Criminal Record Clearance / Police Clearance Certificate, issued by the authorities of either the applicant’s country of nationality or the country where the application is submitted.
