Raquinel, Torres Make Weight for Sunday Showdown in Osaka
By Carlos Costa
Filipino bantamweight Jay-r Raquinel of Highland Boxing Gym and Mexico's Kenbun Torres successfully made weight on Saturday ahead of their scheduled eight-round non-title bout on Sunday, July 12, in Osaka, Japan.
Raquinel tipped the scales at 53.10 kilograms, while Torres (16-6, 11 KOs) came in at 53.45 kilograms, comfortably making the bantamweight limit.
Both fighters appeared fit, confident, and in excellent condition, setting the stage for what is expected to be a competitive and action-packed contest.
Torres brings solid experience into the ring. The rugged Mexican owns notable victories over previously unbeaten KJ Cataraja and former world champ Reymart Gaballo, making him one of the toughest opponents of Raquinel's career.
Despite Torres' impressive résumé, Raquinel remains unfazed. The Filipino from Bacolod is fully focused on the task at hand and is eager to deliver a standout performance on Japanese soil.
With both men ready to go, fight fans can look forward to an exciting clash between two determined warriors.
May the best man win. Laban, Pinoy!

🇵🇭 Jayson Vayson Returns to World 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 👍 #𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 🥊 Former world title challenger Jayson "Striker" Vayson is back in the world rankings — and he’s aiming for another shot at the world title.
The 28-year-old from Agusan del Norte climbed back into all four major sanctioning bodies after his win last month in Manila over former world title challenger Robert Paradero.
With the victory, Vayson is now:
WBC: #12
WBA: #10
IBF: #15
WBO: #15
His current record stands at 15-2-1, 8 KOs.
Vayson is a proven regional champion. He has held the ABF Asian Boxing Federation Light Flyweight title, the WBC Asia Continental title, and the WBO Asia Pacific 108-lbs title. His natural weight classes are light flyweight and flyweight.
Last September, he took a big risk and dropped down to minimumweight to challenge undefeated Puerto Rican champion Oscar Collazo (15-0, 12 KOs) in California. It was a rare opportunity to fight for a world title, and Vayson accepted it with courage and professionalism. Though he came up short, the experience only strengthened his resolve.
Now he’s focused on where he’s strongest: light flyweight. That’s where the current champions are:
WBC: Shokichi Iwata (16-2, 12 KOs) of Japan
IBF: Thanongsak Simsri (40-1, 35 KOs) of Thailand
WBA/WBO: Rene Santiago (16-4, 9 KOs) of Puerto Rico
Known for his soft-spoken personality outside the ring and relentless pressure fighting style inside it, Vayson combines excellent speed, solid power, and deep dedication to the sport. He also brings valuable international experience, having fought in the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Dubai, and the USA.
With his managers Ulysses Sato, Darwin Depay, and Brico Santig working to secure the right opportunities, Vayson is once again in position for a world title run.
His fans across Mindanao and the entire Philippines are glad to see him back among the world’s best.
Good luck, Jayson Vayson. Laban Pinoy!

🇵🇭 Brave Alvin "Felemon" Dologuin Bested in Australia 🇦🇺By Carlos Costa/ 🥊Alvin Dologuin and Alex Alsayaad embraced on top of the ring the moment Alex was declared the winner.
Zamboangueño southpaw Alvin “Felemon” Dologuin left everything in the ring Friday night in Malvern, Southeastern Australia, but came up short against hometown Aussie Alex Alsayyad via 4th-round stoppage.
Felemon was ready to answer the bell for a 5th round. But his corner made the right call.
Caring loilo coach Jomar Fajardo stepped in and stopped it to protect his fighter. The 4th was a harsh chapter and Felemon finished it on his feet. After that, there was no need to risk anything, Diba? This is boxing — It's a sport and safety of our kid is paramount. Good call from coach Jomar 👍
A Zamboangueño With a Heart!
From the opening bell, the 5' 3" "Felemon" pressed forward. He took the fight to the taller Alsayyad, worked inside, and fought with the toughness that’s become his trademark.
He’s boxed across Thailand, the Philippines, and now Australia — and he came to coastal Malvern to fight, not to survive!.
Alsayyad, 6-1 with 3 KOs from Melbourne, got the win. But the story fans share is Felemon’s heart.
The stoppage puts a loss on the record. It does not touch our pride and love for our boxer.
“Felemon, you have a brave heart, and you are strong. We are all proud of you, younger hermano.”
Laban lang 🇵🇭🙏🥊

Tyson Fury To Fight in July 24 in Pattaya, Thailand for Charitable Cause 🥊🇹🇭 Former Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury is climbing the ring on July 24 at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand! He will battle 46-year-old Polish super veteran Mariusz Wach (39-13, 20 KOs).
The fight is being billed as his final tune-up before the highly anticipated showdown with Anthony Joshua later this year. Fury, who’s spent much of 2026 training in Pattaya Beach, says that his July 24 event is about more than boxing:
“We’re coming together to put on a great show for the fans, while using the opportunity to give back to the local community, who have been so good to me every time I have visited.”
Fury's veteran opponent, Mariusz Wach from Poland, has fought elite heavyweights like Klitschko, Whyte, and Parker over his 21-year career.
While Mariusz Wach has already passed his best years, the match-up is designed to keep Fury sharp for the second half of this year.
According to Tyson Fury's team, every ticket sold will support local Pattaya charities. For that, Fury will be awarded the inaugural "Humanitarian Title" for the charitable work tied to the event.
In his latest fight, Tyson Fury decisioned Russian veteran Arslanbek Makhmudov last April in London. His goal is a mega battle against Anthony Joshua.
In short, this is a tune-up fight for Fury while giving back to Pattaya charities. It is not known which charities.
