Sure, the visibility can be a bit tricky with some sediment, but when luck is on our side, Pattaya definitely delivers! Here’s a quick look at today’s highlights:
* 🚢 The Mataphon Wreck (Koh Larn): Decommissioned and sunk back in 2012—mysterious and stunning.
* 🐌 Nudibranch Heaven: Literally bursting with nudis! Found both common types and some rare gems.
* 🐟 Schools of fish, thriving artificial reefs, and expansive sandy bottoms.
Whether you‘re a beginner student practicing your skills or an experienced diver brushing up on your underwater photography, Pattaya is the perfect playground. 📸🪸

Wait… is that a worm or a sea slug?! 🧐✨
Meet Lomanotus vermiformis: the ultimate master of disguise! Growing only up to 30mm, this bizarre little nudibranch evolved to look exactly like the stinging hydroids it lives on (Lytocarpus philippinus). Not only does it live there, but that’s also the only thing it eats! 🪸
Finding one of these on the reef feels like winning the macro lottery. But my favorite thing about them? If they get knocked off their home, they don’t just sink—they thrash wildly to swim to safety! 🌀💨
The Indo-West Pacific is full of these tiny, hidden wonders. You just have to know where to look.

I accidentally spotted this spiny tiger shrimp during a night dive with my students. Honestly, I had no idea they were this rare in Thailand! I just took quick, random photos and a video thinking it was just a regular shrimp. 🦐🤷♂️
It wasn’t until another instructor friend asked if I stole the photo from Indonesia or the Philippines that I realized what a crazy rare find this was! 😂🙌🏼 Yayyy! 🥳🥂
เจอซุปตาร์แบบงงๆ! 🌟🦐 ไปดำน้ำกลางคืนที่อ่าวโตนด เกาะเต่า เจอกุ้ง 2-3 ตัววิ่งอยู่เลยกดถ่ายให้ถ่ายนักเรียนดูเล่นๆ ไม่ได้ตั้งใจปั้นรูปอะไรเลย คิดว่ากุ้งทั่วไปแหละมั้ง 🤷♂️📸
พอส่งรูปให้นักเรียนดู เพื่อนที่เป็นครูทักทันที: “ไปก๊อปรูปอินโดหรือฟิลิปปินส์มาป่ะเนี่ย?! ตัวนี้ในไทยหายากมากนะ!” 😲

Meet the “Unicorn of the Sea” 🦄🌊
The Ornate Eagle Ray is so incredibly rare that it’s currently listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN, with their population dropping drastically over the last three generations.
I captured this eagle ray 2 years ago in Hulhumale, Maldives. The moment I jumped into the water, it just swam right past me completely out of nowhere! At first, I thought it was just a regular eagle ray. But as soon as I noticed that mind-blowing pattern on its back, I kicked my fins like crazy and turned on my camera to chase the shot. 📸🏃♂️
Talk about ultimate luck! Honestly, I don’t even know if I’ll ever get to see one again in this life. 💙✨

กระเบนสายพันธุ์หายาก”Ornate Eagle Ray” ที่ปัจจุบัน IUCN จัดว่าสายพันธุ์นี้อยู่ในสถานะใกล้สูญพันธุ์อย่างยิ่ง และลดลงเป็นอย่างมากในช่วง 3 อายุคนที่ผ่านมา
เจ้าตัวนี้ผมเจอที่ Hulhumale/Maldives เมื่อ 2 ปีที่แล้ว ในขณะที่โดดลงน้ำก็เห็นว่ายผ่านหน้ามาเลยแบบไม่ทันตั้งตัว ทีแรกนึกว่ากระเบนนกธรรมดาที่พบเจอได้ทั่วไป แต่พอสังเกตเห็นลายบนตัว ผมก็รีบสับฟินตามอย่างรวดเร็วพร้อมเปิดกล้องเพื่อตามไปถ่ายรูป 📸🏃♂️
โชคดีมากจริงๆ ไม่รู้ว่าในชีวิตนี้จะมีโอกาสได้เจออีกมั้ย 💙✨

Everyone knows that when you go on a liveaboard, night dives are part of the deal! 🌌✨
But during this night dive, I came across a discarded fishing net with some poor creatures trapped inside. We managed to free them all and recover the net back to the boat, so I filmed the whole process to show you guys how it’s done. 🎥
Just a heads-up: recovering ghost nets like this is super risky and requires serious caution, as it can easily put yourself and other divers in danger. It’s always best to leave this to professionals and those with proper experience to stay safe! 🙏🤿
เป็นที่รู้กันดีว่าการมาดำน้ำแบบ liveaboard นั้น คือเราจะได้ดำน้ำตอนกลางคืนกันด้วย
แต่ในการดำน้ำตอนกลางคืนครั้งนี้ผมได้เจอซากแหที่ถูกทิ้งไว้ และมีสิ่งมีชีวิตติดอยู่ข้างใน เลยทำการปล่อยสิ่งมีชีวิตเหล่านั้นแล้วเก็บกู้แหขึ้นมาบนเรือ เลยถ่ายคลิปวิธีเก็บกู้มาให้ดูกันครับ
การเก็บกู้แบบนี้นั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ต้องระวังเป็นอย่างมาก เพราะมีโอกาสที่จะทำให้เกิดอันตรายต่อตัวเองและนักดำน้ำคนอื่นได้ ควรปล่อยให้เป็นหน้าที่ของผู้เชี่ยวชาญและมีประสบการณ์เพื่อความปลอดภัยครับ
