Why do tour pros use slow motion? 👀⛳️
Watch a Tour player practising and you’ll often see them hitting slow-motion swings.
It’s not because they’re trying to make the swing look pretty. It’s because slow motion removes speed and exposes the movement.
At full speed, the brain can easily hide mistakes. Slow it down and you can actually feel and understand:
• How the body starts the downswing
• What the arms and hands are doing
• Clubface control
• Pressure and sequencing
• Impact position
• Where the club is travelling through the ball
And here’s the important part…
Amateurs should be doing this MORE, not less.
You don’t need to hit 100 balls at full speed trying to “fix” your swing. Take 10–20 balls and make controlled, exaggerated slow-motion swings. Then gradually add speed while keeping the same movement.
Think of it as practice → understand → speed up → repeat.
The best players don’t just practise their swing.
They practise the movement.
Try slow motion in your next session and you might be surprised how much you can learn from a swing that barely moves. 🏌️♂️
