No reef? No problem. Out in the open ocean, the best place to hide is right in plain sight.

When there are no corals to camouflage against, pelagic critters use transparency as their ultimate defense. Being completely see-through helps them avoid casting shadows, sneak up on prey, and drift invisibly through the deep. These blackwater wonders only reveal themselves when caught in the glow of a dive light.
