Bangkok Blues Cricket Club triumphs in an exciting encounter over the Mutants CC despite Nirucha's hattrick in match #1 of The Makers Cup 2026!!!

Match Recap:

Mutants CC winning the toss on a pitch that seemed favorable for bowling did just that.

Sadam Khan and Rakesh Yadav get blues off to a decent start and it wasn't until Nirucha 'The Silencer' Sodhi came into the attack disturbing the furniture of three blues batters and wrapping one right in front of the stumps.
The Silencer 3 overs, 1 maiden, conceded just 14 runs and picked up 4 wickets including a hattrick. A phenomenal effort!

Blues Skipper, Jandre Coetzee - the legend would try to regain lost ground only to slice one to backward point of his opposite number, leaving the Blues innings in dire straits...

Thakur (which translates to Lord, Master or Chief), don't be fooled by the warm fuzzy feeling when he smiles, he can just as easily make you feel pain and regret, aided by a few chances that would prove to be extremely costly, he single handedly flipped the script of the innings scoring a well paced, unbeaten 65* (39 balls, three 4's and four 6's) ensuring that Blues got to a defendable total of 155/7 in 20 overs.

Mutants CC feeling quietly confident during the innings break opened the innings with Mewada and Ghosh, both of whom looked good from the start, just as things were going well; a moment of indecision followed by a moment of panic saw a suicidal second run being attempted off a slight fumble, the fielder on this occasion was none other than Jandre, quick to recover from the fumble and guilty of impersonating Greek mythology and hurled a lightning bolt to the keepers end - Naitik Mewada (Run out JC) 8 off 8

Subrato Ghosh(19), Neeraj Sodhi(17), Avneesh Chopra (19) would all perish after getting starts but failing to convert.
Leaving the Mutants innings in an almost identical situation as the first innings at 80/5 in 12.1 overs, just 3 runs ahead of where the Blues were at this stage as hope still lingered like a flame in the wind that refuses to go out.

Robert Raina and the rest of the batting order would try to get as close to the target but eventually fall short by 24 runs.

A joint effort from the Blues bowlers saw two bowlers pick up a pair and three of them, a wicket-a-piece.

A no-contest PoTM award went to Mukesh Thakur for an outstanding all-round performance.

"Moments in the game" one team seized them the other didn't, and that made all the difference!

25/26 season recap: Flores has shown the dedication to self improvement without resting on the laurels of yesteryears.

Whether it's playing soccer, indoor cricket or turning up for nets and games, his consistent efforts were highlighted in the swashbuckling 80 odd he scored this season.
The reason: Quite simply, it was un-Flores like... known previously for his unwavering commitment to the "forward (Dravid-like) defence", he walked off like Colin Munro, after smashing the bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Flores, also known for his sportsmanship, highly positive energy and always putting the team first are just some of the reasons we love having him.
