Do you need creatine for training? How to take it right? We understand the properties of the additive

In general, most people tend to overestimate him. But because of this, the calorie rate will also get overestimated - as the calculator will assume that you spend a lot of energy. It is not suitable primarily for those who want to lose weight, but even if you want to gain a lot, it is better to have a closer value to the truth. Save the calculator to bookmarks and return to it to recalculate your performance. If you have a sitting job, and you are only occasionally doing some exercises, then this is the first level of load - minimal. In this case, the activity coefficient is 1.2.

If the work is still sitting, but you walk quite a lot, actively walk with the dog several times a day, ride a bike / skiing or trained at home 1-3 times a week, then your coefficient is 1.375.

In the case of medium activity, the coefficient is 1.55. Regular training is 3-5 times a week - not 15 minutes, but full-fledged, on the hour. In addition, you are still cooking and retaining at home, go a lot on foot or walk and play with your child.

If you train 6-7 times a week or your work is associated with physical labor - the coefficient of 1,725.

As examples of maximum load - severe physical work or training 7-10 times per week (coefficient of 1.9).

How does the calorie calculator work

The calculation is based on the concept of basal metabolism (BMR) - this is the amount of calories (energy), which the body spends in a state of rest to maintain the functioning of the body: respiration, operation of the gastrointestinal tract, blood circulation, thermoregulation, nervous system operation. This value depends on age, gender, growth and weight - these indicators usually need to be administered when using calorie calculator.

There are 4 of the most common formulas for calculating the base metabolism: these are Harris-Benedict, Miffline-San Säora, Owen and WHO / FAO / UNU (World Health / Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations / University of UN). The most reliable today is the formula of Miffline-San Säore:

BMR for men = (10 × weight in kilograms) + (6.25 × growth in centimeters) - (5 × age in years) + 5

BMR for women = (10 × weight in kilograms) + (6.25 × growth in centimeters) - (5 × age in years) - 161

Mark Miffline and Satiko San Säor did not themselves developed the formula. In 1990, a group of scientists under their leadership enhanced the initial formula of Francis Benedict and James Harris, which they were created back in 1919.

Basal metabolism does not even take into account the minimum level of physical activity like a sedentary work at a computer. That is why in the calculator, the base metabolism indicator is multiplied by the physical activity coefficient - to adjust the result under your lifestyle.
