Another chamber at risk of closing. Please support you local chambers by making sure you have appropriate insurance. Many chambers get criticised for being expensive but cost are high in maintaining high level service offering 24/7 support.
Bermuda’s only hyperbaric chamber has been forced to close due to a shortage of trained staff, leaving divers without local recompression support. This comes amid a growing global crisis in hyperbaric access. Read the full story at The Scuba News.

To Be or Not to Be (Insured) — That Is the Question
Many people don’t realise the true cost of an accident, especially while on holiday and coming from a country with free healthcare.
Recompression treatments are expensive unless government-funded. The cost of maintaining facilities and providing 24/7 emergency cover is significant, leading many chambers to close or stop treating DCI.
Costs add up quickly—evacuation, hospital bills, and treatment can easily reach thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, depending on severity.
Insurance policies can start from around $150 (4,500 THB) per year—about $0.42 (12 THB) a day, less than a morning coffee or afternoon beer. Even if you never claim, it would take around 10 years of continuous cover to equal the cost of a single accident.
For peace of mind and fast access to necessary treatment, it makes sense to ensure you’re covered. If you need more information or advice, feel free to contact us.
