So... which Vampire is the right choice for you?
All 3 latest editions have undergone significant improvements in key areas across the board with refinements coming as a result of Robi and Co's relentless terrain flying, research and development behind the Vampire R technology, and of course Peter Salzmann's world speed record set with the Vampire Competition in collaboration with Red Bull!
With a more refined aerodynamic profile, the new Vampire design continues building on a legacy that's been part of Skydiving and BASE for over 22 years. It's iconic leg wing deflector has been improved, the arm sweep and ribs have been adjusted, there are more cells overall and the profile is thinner, especially with the last few cells on each arm wing. The latest generations have a powerful performance envelope with steep diving and sharp turns complemented by consistent short start and top glide capacity following constant development.
All Vampires are highly rewarding suits engineered for experienced pilots. For those that have put in the work, here are our recommendations and points to consider before choosing between the Vampire, Vampire Competition and Vampire R models.
Vampire:
The Vampire is an aggressive machine designed entirely with BASE jumping in mind. It's user friendliness has improved dramatically over the past few generations, but it is an out and out terrain flying suit, if this is not a key focus for you then there are certainly better suited models in our lineup. However if you want to fly steep and fast, with turns that feel like you're on rails, then it doesn’t get better than this. Steep diving and sharp turn characteristics remain second to none, but our development process has led to flare power, exit performance, ease of consistency and high glide which have all improved dramatically. Of course for those that know, no explanation is necessary!
Vampire Competition:
The Comp is a highly versatile platform which has been consistently winning at World Wingsuit League, won the 2026 World BASE Race, has won world cups in skydiving and of course holds the record for fastest speed ever recorded during a BASE jump...
It comes with the option of PPC inlets (maximum in flight performance, higher pressurisation and typically recommended only for skydiving), or BASE inlets (faster starts, easier pull). The pressurisation is a little higher than the standard and the arm wings have an extra 5cm +/- on each side.
The real world result is this, the comp is a more technical suit which rewards those capable of flying it with faster starts, higher glide and significantly more speed and energy to play with at these higher glides. This comes with a small reduction in agility, and diving on steep terrain is also more technically demanding than with the regular Vampire. To finish the jump off, the flare power is just phenomenal.
In skydiving, this suit is perfect for intermediate to advanced PPC competitors, or for those who prefer not to compete with winglets. In BASE this is the perfect suit for advanced pilots who want an aggressive, highly capable and high performance all round machine.
Vampire R:
The Vampire R is our all out skydiving PPC Competition suit. It is built on the new Vampire Competition platform, but with the addition of winglets and upgraded fins. The 26 model continues to build on the legacy of the Vampire R, has been dominating the Italian Nationals in the hands of Luca Sala and just won the Russian PPC competition piloted by Dima with a commanding lead. We are extremely excited for the future of this suit! We typically don't recommend flying the Vampire R in the BASE jumping environment, it is an all out skydiving competition suit!
As always if you are unsure if a Vampire is the right choice for you, or which Vampire you should choose, or if you have any other questions.... then you know where to find us! Bespoke requests are something we consider to be one of our specialities!
