Preparing for the future starts with asking the right questions today. In a rapidly changing world, some questions require us to look beyond immediate challenges and think about the future we are building.

The Trivelis Institute has published a new expert report addressing one such question: how should Slovenia develop a resilient defense system for the decades ahead?

“From National Responsibility and Collective Defense to the Military Resilience of a Small State”, authored by Dr Igor Kotnik, one of Slovenia’s leading defense experts, introduces a new conceptual and methodological model for linking Slovenia’s defense responsibilities with the capabilities and functions needed to meet the demands of today’s security environment.

The report, however, speaks to a much broader challenge. It shows why complex issues with long-term consequences require expertise, informed debate and strategic thinking, as the decisions we make today will ultimately shape how prepared and resilient Slovenia will be for the future.

From classroom to the field: How do we deliver impactful, inclusive, and adaptive training in crisis management? 🌍

Organized by the Centre for European Perspective - CEP and the Peace Operations Training Centre – POTC under the auspices of European Union Training Initiative, this training is designed to equip trainers to transfer expertise clearly, inclusively, and responsibly across diverse and multifaceted operational cultures.

Participants will learn to master the full training cycle (ADDIE) and implement powerful, non-exclusionary communication approaches that dismantle hidden barriers to learning.

🗓️ Dates: 7–9 September 2026

📍 Location: Jable Castle, Loka pri Mengšu, Slovenia

👥 Target Group: Primarily police and civilian trainers/instructors involved in preparing personnel for national and international missions. It is also highly relevant for military experts, mission personnel, and professionals who regularly facilitate workshops or group processes.

Priority will be given to participants from EU Member States.
