We’re in Corvara for the maratonadolomites on Sunday. I guess I should do well (for a 59yo guy), but still a bit scared to think about how much slower am I going to be than my first one in 2012.
I’d be happy with half an hour, what do you think?

People ask me is ultra cycling ever fun? Actually the process should always be fun, from goal setting, meeting training goals, planning for a big event. We love to ride our bicycles so we have fun doing it.
But it’s not fun during the ultra races I’ve been told, it just hurts too much and so much stress is involved for everyone. People who say that are mostly right, but with one exception - team racing! You got the same (or more) amount of pleasure, but for lots less hurting and being able to rest between efforts. If you’re lucky enough to get a teammate as Kimmy, you’re in for an adventure of lifetime! Always ready to do her work to the max and with a smile on her face. It’s a somewhat surreal experience for the racers as they get to meet each other only at exchanges. But you can feel the vibe and the vibe at Team Baloh Coaching was on another level. The crew stepped up too and they did an awesome job supporting two athletes going for the record and never wanting to stop even for a second.
Thank you Kimmy and thanks to all the six crew members (Irma, Jen, Sam, Jeff, Borut & Adrian) - we did it together, the record is ours! Along with the memories for a lifetime.

First morning of the Race across the West - started the dreaded Yarnell Climb at 7am, which means that we were crazy fast in the night. Now the serious climbing starts, let’s see how that goes…
