One of my #1 expedition essentials and something you’ll always find on my gear guide: REVIVE | Daily Electrolytes electrolytes!!
Hydration matters hugely at altitude. It supports acclimatisation and helps you avoid dehydration, which can mimic or worsen some symptoms of altitude illness.
Top acclimatisation tips 👇
• Go up slowly. A good itinerary is one of your greatest advantages.
• Hydrate consistently.
• Climb high, sleep low. Where the route allows, gain some altitude before returning lower to sleep.
• Keep your pace SLOW. Altitude is not the place to prove your fitness.
• Eat, even when you’re not hungry. Your body needs energy to adapt.
• Prioritise sleep + recovery. Give your body the space to do the work.
• Avoid alcohol. Especially while you’re actively gaining altitude.
• Listen to your body. Headaches, nausea, dizziness and unusual fatigue should never be hidden or ignored.
• Never rush the mountain. Fitness helps you climb but it does not make you immune to altitude sickness.
The goal isn’t just to get higher. It’s to give your body time to catch up with you.

20 – 30 March 2027. Two places left.
There is a quieter Himalaya, and almost nobody goes.
Eleven day itinerary, eight days through Sherpa heartland… monasteries, prayer flags, family kitchens, and a dawn on Pikey Peak that opens onto Everest, Lhotse and Makalu.
Not a race to altitude. A spiritual trek through a place shaped by reverence, led by me and my climbing partner Pasang.

The atoms that make up your body were forged in ancient stars. You were born from a Universe that creates light. Remember that when you doubt!
One of my happy places. Solo dancing along Himalayan redlines at 5000m.
Shine baby shine, I see you 🌻💛

Solo trekking through the Himalayas.
This is what works for me.
PACK – 65L North Face Summit Series Cobra 65. Small hip pack for phone and snacks. Packable daypack for acclimatisation walks. Dry bags.
SLEEP – Liner only. Every tea house has duvets. Controversial opinion, but I do not carry a sleeping bag.
LAYERS – 800-fill down jacket. Fleece or soft shell. Gore-Tex shell and rain pants. Lightweight windbreaker. Thermals. Trekking pants. Sun hoody. Cap, beanie, buff. Liner gloves and outer gloves. One clean set for the evenings, kept clean. Quick-dry underwear. Socks: a few thin, a few thick.
FEET – Trail runners are what I use (not many people do). Boots are best for ankle support. Microspikes, the most underrated thing in the pack.
MOVING – Sturdy trekking poles. Sunglasses, and a spare pair.
WATER – Two 1L Nalgenes, a filter or tablets, electrolytes. Carry less food than you think, the tea houses sell plenty.
TECH – Power bank. Tea houses charge you to charge. Cables, phone tripod.
SMALL THINGS – Head torch and spare batteries, non-negotiable. Pocket knife. Blister plasters and tape. Sunscreen and SPF lip balm. Hand warmers. Toiletries, kept light. Cash in rupees, there are no ATMs past Namche.
Total: about 17kg. Heavier than ideal for my body weight, and I usually double up days. For a big trek you want your pack at max 25% of what you weigh.
Permits, passport copies and insurance that covers helicopter evacuation above 5,000m.
Swipe for the tips I would give anyone walking into the Himalayas alone.
And if you would rather not do it alone, my next guided expedition is open. DM “CLIMB” and I’ll be in touch.

I could tell you what it’s like to climb Kilimanjaro with me.
But I’d rather let them tell you. 🌻🏔️
I can’t promise you the summit. No honest leader can.
But I can promise to walk every step with everything I have… and make sure this journey means far more than standing on top.
Kilimanjaro doesn’t need to stay on the someday list.
Comment/ DM “KILI” and let’s bring your dream to life.
This is what a Kilimanjaro summit night looks like with us.
Energizing. Electric. Primal. Raw.
No words can fully describe the feeling.
Join me. It would an honour holding space for you and your dream. I got you!

Rest in peace, my brother, Nims 🤍
You always had my back. You believed in me, encouraged me, and led with a powerful spirit that touched so many lives.
The legacy you’ve left behind is far greater than the mountains you climbed. It lives on in the people you inspired, the lives you changed, and the courage you awakened in others.
My heart is with every climber who lost their life, and with every family carrying this unimaginable grief.
May you all find peace among the mountains you loved so deeply.
